Thank you counselor!
& May you be inscribed & sealed for a Great year & even sweeter eternity.

Think about that glorious truth!
The God of creation is mindful of man!

There's a book. " The book of life"

The lamb has it.

There's names in it!

Thanks be to Him!

When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers,
The moon and the stars, which You have ordained;
What is man that You take thought of him,
And the son of man that You care for him?

Who's keeping sukkot this year?

Have a blessed new year too!

One thing for sure, I’ve learned more about the Jewish culture in my short time here than I have the other years of my life (…well, maybe other than what I’ve seen in the movies or “The Wonder Years”…).

L'shana Tova!

Made brisket, but had to drop off plates to local family instead of having everyone over like we usually do. Step FIL has Rona, MIL thinks she is immune so takes no real precautions, and my kids are too young for the 98.2% shot.

Anyway, hope all you Hebrews and Hebrettes have a sweet new year!

Here is my long-term perspective on Judaism vs. Christianity:

1. Jews believe the messiah has yet to come.
2. Christians believe the messiah already came once as Jesus and will return.
3. So, when the messiah comes, Jews will ask the messiah: "Did you previously come once as Jesus?"
4. If the messiah says "Yes," then Jews will become Christians.
5. If the messiah says "No," then Christians will become Jews.

Frank explained his cultural/historical/bloodline perspective. I don't disagree.

Judaism's holiest prayer, Shemah Yisroel, is a declaration of the basic principle of Jewish belief, proclaiming the absolute unity of God:

"HEAR, O Israel, the Lord is our God, the Lord is One!"

The remainder of this prayer is rather lengthily and includes:

"Blessed be the name of the glory of His kingdom forever and ever."

"You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your might. And these words which I command you today shall be upon your heart. You shall teach them thoroughly to your children, and you shall speak of them when you sit in your house and when you walk on the road, when you lie down and when you rise. You shall bind them as a sign upon your hand, and they shall be for a reminder between your eyes. And you shall write them upon the doorposts of your house and upon your gates."

"And it will be, if you will diligently obey My commandments which I enjoin upon you this day, to love the Lord your God and to serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul, I will give rain for your land at the proper time, the early rain and the late rain, and you will gather in your grain, your wine and your oil. And I will give grass in your fields for your cattle, and you will eat and be sated. Take care lest your heart be lured away, and you turn astray and worship alien gods and bow down to them. For then the Lord's wrath will flare up against you, and He will close the heavens so that there will be no rain and the earth will not yield its produce, and you will swiftly perish from the good land which the Lord gives you. Therefore, place these words of Mine upon your heart and upon your soul, and bind them for a sign on your hand, and they shall be for a reminder between your eyes. You shall teach them to your children, to speak of them when you sit in your house and when you walk on the road, when you lie down and when you rise. And you shall inscribe them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates - so that your days and the days of your children may be prolonged on the land which the Lord swore to your fathers to give to them for as long as the heavens are above the earth."...

I, personally. do not believe one can truly be a religious Jew if one doesn't believe in God.
And, for the record, I do believe in God.

Religion in the Greek means bondage. JESUS came to set you free, so if he sets you free, you are free indeed.

Calling people idiots is just trying to get the last word in. rise above that petty foolishness.

Is slander the only thing you got, rfenst. Plus it take a idiot to know a idiot, is that experience talking. How long have you been a idiot? Just curious.

I’ll do that. I know I got you still in my phone but my phone number did change when I moved here. If you see a San Mateo CA # it’s not really a spam risk. Unless you don’t to want to talk about expiring car warranties.

Thank you for sharing counselor!
May I add Deutoronomy 30:19
Relates interestingly with our other discussions re: abortion:

" I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:"

Sorry, my post was totally in the wrong thread. It was in response to MACS' and WB questions/comments about Jewish beliefs in the current 500 thread. See http://www.cigarbid.com/.../Dancing-with-Myself-500 @220 and @222.

Abortion is not what this thread was supposed to be about. It's also the wrong forum.

And, to top it off, I don't care to discuss religion with you as previously stated in another thread. We just seem to just go 'round and 'round and 'round and 'round and 'round... on the subject.

Nothing to apologize for on your part to me..
MY Apologies, my intention was never to discuss religion, especially not in the wrong forum or thread.

You shared Dt. 6 , I shared Dt. 30. I don't see that as religious.
I get it though.
I'll check my familiarity with your posts going forward.

Shalom

Back'atcha Robert, thank you very much, my this year be pain free for you.

While a believer, the world and its many contents did not come about by chance, at the same time I am not a big fan of religion, IMO, a construct of man. I am convinced when members of various religions arrive in heaven, many will be inclind to say, "How did you guys get into our heaven?"
