The NEX on Naval Air Station Jville doesn't have a very good selection of beers... but they had a few decent whiskey selections. The WT101 was like $18 for the 750 ml bottle.

They didn't have any bitters, though... how is a mutha fugga sposta make an old fashioned?

That reminds me, I haven’t had an OF in quite awhile. Luckily I have all the ingredients. Cool

For those totally l-a-z-y moments, has anyone tried this stuff:

I haven’t had that, but in my experiences I’ve been pretty disappointed with any of those premixed drinks like that. Just my opinion. ymmv

Clyde May's Straight Bourbon Whiskey

Not bad but in hindsight, shoulda bought another bottle of OF 1920 instead. Oh well....

OF 1920 is a staple on my barback 👍🏼

Try this recipe for an old fashioned, Palama...

In your favorite glass... 2 dashes orange bitters, 2 dashes angostura bitters, 1/2 tsp simple syrup, 2 oz of your favorite bourbon. Garnish with orange peel and a cherry, ensuring you express the peel over the glass when you're done mixing before you drop it in.

I use a big cube of ice. You can also use 1/2 tsp pure cane sugar instead of the syrup if you like it better that way.

spotted a couple bottles of Blanton's yesterday in a shpo I rarely visit...but $99.99!!!
Haven't seen any in a very long time...
It may be my #1 bourbon, but it would have to a very special occasion for me to justify that price when I can be so very happy at less than half the price.

Had a few shots last night while herfing with HOnizuka and another h.s. classmate:

Red Spot - expen$ive but super smooth
Henry McKenna - good but a little different / unique taste profile than most bourbons
Fighting C0ck - sub $20, was pretty smooth for something that was 103 proof
Old Tub - another sub $20 bottle, was good but the FC won the night
Kirkland - 100 proof, “Barton 1792” was on the label so assuming that it’s rebranded.

About midway through the evening, I realized that I had forgotten my wallet so hadda cool it on the drinks and make sure I drove home at or very close to the speed limit.

Is this not the Kirkland BIB? I read somewhere that the Kirkland BIB is Barton 1792. It's $24.99 a pop here in FL and I recommended it to my buddies in CA and it's $23.99 in their Costco. Fuggers.

SanTan Sacred Stave Rye Whiskey

I picked it up mostly because it's. Locally made here in AZ, but it's not bad. It's finished in Madeira wine casks, so there is an interesting flavor lurking in the background. Overall not bad for under$30.

I think they are different but don't hold me to it as gospel.

I like seeing small business's grow!!!
