BJs out here is a sports bar. Though $3.41 is pretty good for a beer at a sports bar

The ONLY reason why prices are going down. Draining of the Strategic Petroleum Reserves. It was bought and filled under Trump at prices under 2.00. The cost to partially refill his underhandedness...all you need to know is it's all a political stunt at our expense. There is still NO FREE LUNCH.

Biden Draining SPR Like "Campaign Credit Card" For Midterms

President Biden's reckless draining of the US Strategic Petroleum Reserve is nothing more than an election-year gimmick akin to using a 'credit card' to buy votes, according to Tim Stewart, president of the US Oil and Gas Association.

According to data from the Department of Energy, stocks of crude oil in the SPR hit their lowest levels since 1984 for the week ending Sept. 16.

"This is the first time in history, honestly, that the Strategic Petroleum Reserve has been used as a campaign credit card to buy down political risk for the midterms," Stewart told Just the News.

"Let me put it in perspective if I could," he continued. "At the current rate, the U.S. is selling more oil out of its emergency reserves than the production of most medium-sized OPEC countries like Algeria or Angola. We're selling twice as much per day than we're producing out of Alaska. That puts us somewhere between Exxon and Conoco in terms of ... the impact we're having on the daily supply — and this is happening without new oil going into replace it."

The conversation then turned to 'energy expert' Hunter Biden, who host John Solomon asked for Stewart's reaction to "the idea that the president's son ... could be working behind the scenes quietly to take our great energy wealth, send it over to China, while the boss, the president, the 'Big Guy' that they refer to in the documents, he's trying to lower our reliance [on fossil fuels] and keep us from using our energy wealth here."

Stewart, who noted that the oil and gas trading industry is "very, very complex," replied: "I've been in this business for 25 years or so. And I can tell you, I am no more qualified to be a trader or a broker than an influence-peddling son of a former vice president. [Hunter Biden] had nothing to offer except for access, and access to his father, who in turn could make a call. And that's really what's wrong with Washington right now. And that is why this story is so so troubling to many of us."

Stewart decried the "sheer hypocrisy" of Joe Biden "spending decades beating up on the oil and gas industry, profiting by it for that four years when he's not in public office, and then coming back in and trying to to hamstring and to kneecap our industry again." -JTN

Weird thing going on in my small town….
We got 4 stations…
Fred Meyer
76
Shell
Chevron
They are all typically within 10-20 cents, and have been since Ive been buying gas here 20+ years.
Chevron always the most expensive, Fred Meyer the cheapest…(crappy gas)

So last weekend sometime, 76 decides to lower their prices……..a lot. They are now .50-60 cents per gallon less than the other three.
They run out of gas constantly…

All stations still charging over $5/gal………………..stoooooopid!

Also if you haven’t download the Phillips 66 app automatic 10c off a gallon to a certain amount and Mobil app you earn points and can redeem them to take a few dollars off after a certain amount and plus is your card is linked to the app and don’t have to worry about skimmers

Ditto. I really like my e-bike. It gets me around town where I need to go 98.2% of the time and I can prolly get from point A to point B faster than a car. Bikes don't really have to abide by street rules. Technically they do but no cop is gonna write you up for going the wrong way on a one way street, or blowing through a stop sign/light while on a bike (safely looking both ways), cutting corners through a parking lot and stuff.

Our little town put in bike lanes this past summer. They got a grant to redo & repave most of the town streets a couple years back and part of the grant included putting in "official" bike lanes.

With that said, winter is coming so my bike riding will be limited to what Mother Nature throws us.

Remotely burned coal or direct? e.g. grid rechargeable battery electric car or coal-heated steam?

I saw on the news this morning that gas prices on the left coast, especially in Cali keep heading the wrong way.
Gotta pay up for that special California Green Dreaming blend before they outlaw gasoline forever I guess.

Here in central MA about...

$3.50/gal for regular grade gas.
$4.90/gal diesel.
$4.75/gal for heating oil.

It's gonna be a long, cold and expensive winter for folks around here to heat their house.

Under $3.00/gallon at Costco this week with their discount. We also have a month-long $.25 state gas-tax "holiday."

(My only concern about the "holiday" is the revenue the state will loose right now because of this- and that the hurricane will cost Florida $billions to bail out the homeowners insurers that have recently gone under, and others that undoubtedly will go under quickly with all the hurricane claims coming in. This will, in turn, lead to the state having to pay the defunct insurers' claims with state funds...)

I am not Hockey da (thank God).

But, I am wondering if its production issues- because of conversion to Winter gasoline production at the refinery. I do think the recent hike in oil prices is a factor. It could even be it be that transporting oil to relatively landlocked places like Ohio and there is more expensive. Among other economic factors...

We have our own oil and we can be a net exporter of that oil. Policies matter.

Yes, policies do matter.

U.S. crude stockpiles surge on reserve releases; distillates draw down

Oct 13 (Reuters) - U.S. crude stocks rose by nearly 10 million barrels last week after another big release from government reserves, while distillate inventories fell sharply, the Energy Information Administration said on Thursday.

Crude inventories (USOILC=ECI) rose by 9.9 million barrels in the week to Oct. 7 to 439.1 million barrels, data showed, compared with analysts' expectations in a Reuters poll for a 1.8 million-barrel rise.

The bulk of that bump in commercial stocks came from a 7.7 million-barrel release of reserves from U.S. Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR), though inventories without those reserves also rose.

Distillate stockpiles (USOILD=ECI), which include diesel and heating oil, fell by 4.9 million barrels to 106.1 million barrels, their lowest since May, versus expectations for a 2 million-barrel drop.

"Ongoing concerns on the diesel front is warranted with another 4.8 million draw there," said Tony Headrick, energy market analyst at CHS Hedging.

That distillate drawdown came as heating oil demand is due to rise as winter months approach. Stockpiles of the fuel have remained tight due to heavy demand worldwide and refinery issues in both the United States and France.

U.S. exports of petroleum products rose last week to their highest on record at 7.1 million barrels per day, government data showed.

U.S. refiners have been running at above-average levels for this time of year to boost inventory levels, though they pulled back on activity last week.

Refinery crude runs (USOICR=ECI) fell by 278,000 bpd in the last week, while refinery utilization rates (USOIRU=ECI) fell by 1.4 percentage points to 89.9% of overall capacity, the EIA said.

Gasoline stocks (USOILG=ECI) rose by 2 million barrels in the week to 209.5 million barrels, compared with expectations for a 1.8 million-barrel drop.

Oil prices rose on the news. Brent futures gained $1.49 a barrel to $93.94, a 1.6% increase, as of 11:19 a.m. EDT (1519 GMT), while U.S. crude rose $1.46 to $88.73 a barrel. https://www.reuters.com/markets/commodities/us-crude-stockpiles-surge-reserve-releases-distillates-draw-down-eia-2022-10-13/

See it for what it is. Mortgaging a secure future for a political crutch. This administration is talking about Armageddon while the World is on fire and is taking away our national ability to operate safely in it. They haven't got qualified people in cabinet positions and are willing to make Putin wealthy and Greta Thunberg seem sane. Of course the cost of gas is going to rise. This fool ended his lockdown mandates which is expected to put Americans back in to the workforce...along with all of the commerce that goes along with that...while closing pipelines and ending drilling rights to the point of zero profitability...all while blaming non-entities like gas station owners for the rate hikes. Its insanity.

$3.12 for regular at Kroger, $4.79 for diesel.

I had a $50 Shell gift card I'd won, I'd already been to four Shell stations that have all been recently converted to Circle-K so the card was not accpeted. I found the only Shell station left withint about 50+ files, they do not sell diesel, so I ask how many lottery cards I can buy, none, South Carolina cards are cash only. I noticed a homeless guy when I entered the station store so I asked the clerk if the card was good for food, yes, so I gave it to the homeless guy. He was speechless, then said thanks and GB.
