Well, to be fair... I DID leave CA with no address to give them. And then when we went into escrow I held off telling them until I was sure we were going to close. But that was 3 weeks ago, so....

What I learned today was that my stuff was stored... then put on a large trailer and brought to Miami, where it was transferred to the local, smaller truck for delivery to me. So they literally drove past me to bring my stuff to Miami and unload it, load it on a smaller truck, and bring it to me. Frying pan Brick wall

It's here now, so the wife and I will start unpacking, hanging pictures, arguing... ya know... the usual.

What was Cali's deficit? Asking for a friend. Cool

Edit: And FL has NO state tax and CA has some of the highest. lol

the CA surplus is more than 4X the FL surplus...just telling a friend...

Budget surplus = overtaxation. Now how to spend it and make it vanish. Maybe the unfunded pension liability? Don’t bet on it!

Where exactly did that surplus money come from? I'm curious...

IMO, Florida should never have a true surplus. It must always be ready to heavily bailout its state owned homeowners insurer and others it re-insures when there is a hurricane

mostly from increased higher than projected tax revenues from large corporations and wealthiest residents, so Hockey Dad is correct...another part is from federal pandemic assistance funds

yeah...I was gone for three weeks and was slow to go back and catch up...saw MACS's post about CA's budget deficit a few days ago and thought he was wrong, as usual...I remembered that Gov. Newsom had proposed sending refunds to tax-payers in June, when the surplus was announced, but DGAF then, since we don't qualify...but the surplus came up in a story in the newspaper the other day, so...

"Last month, Governor Newsom released a $300.7 billion spending plan and announced an estimated $97.5 billion state budget surplus as part of the May Revision to the 2022–2023 state budget."

I'm still sore about the tax bite California took the year we left for Texas. The anger returned when years after leaving when we sold our California house and the California wanted to withhold money from the sale. I only avoided that by doing a 1031 exchange of rental properties.

Really, Al... what hasn't Biden screwed up?

Do I miss CA weather? Absolutely.

Hopefully I don't have to run to another country. We just need to endure this sh-tshow and pray we can get back on track soon after he exits. Pray

It rained yesterday for 15 minutes. Real rain. Reminded me of Florida.

Countertops installed. Tiling done grouting today. Shower faceplate was the wrong part and was wrong from the original design. Needed a two way diverter not a one way. New part ordered. Will prolly be the last thing installed.

Still need the closet doors installed this week.

It’s almost done and then the realtors can do their walkthrough and do their market estimate.

6 weekends left until the moving truck arrives.

We have an offer in on one to rent and 5 backup choices.

They still need to verify my employment. They already have pay stubs and I sent them the steps for employment verification from my work email. Basically they need to get official confirmation that I didn’t quit my job within the last 9 days and still have corporate email access.

Here’s your sign.

Packing day is still Oct 31. Moving truck pickup is Nov 1. Delivery window in Nov 7-18 for direct delivery.

I met with two realtors. I’m just waiting on their market assessments and then we pick a realtor. If they are off by more than 5% a third realtor will do an assessment.

Looks like I need to line up some new carpet and some paint.

We need to schedule a day for our trash/recycle pickup during the week before the move.

I wouldn’t mind adding a few plants and bark to the front yard. Kinda running out of time.

LOL! I had seen the first one, the second is hilarious. I know a fellow that married a vegan, lived in Texas and introduced her to brisket... she is no longer a vegan.

They won't simply accept authorization to pull a credit report and just have you provide a bank or other statement showing access to enough cash on hand to pay 12 mos. rent? That is all the landlord's realtor required of Noah a few months ago. He told me it was the best indicator for both students and non-students.

It was a bit comical and I was seriously close to bailing on it but we got it done.

We even did a “meet and greet” over Zoom. They did seem very nice.
