F*ckin Aye. Couldn't imagine going back to that life. If a lazy booze hound like me can do it, so could you if you need to.

I'm glad you are sober Jade so I don't have to be.
I've never had a predisposition to booze houndedness, so it never was a problem

First off, Congrats Jade. Keep the streak alive, brother. I've got a buddy who had quit and went back to it. Frying pan

Both older brothers (half brothers, same mom) are alcoholics. Oldest had issues with heroin, too. I don't "need" booze, and it has not interfered with work/life/relationships. Not predisposed to addiction and neither mom nor dad were drinkers.

As I've gotten older I prefer to have a couple, or get the little buzz going, and call it a night. Going too far always makes the next couple days rough... but when hanging with the fellas and having a good time, I'll overindulge a little.

It's not an easy accomplishment to break from the shackles of addiction.

Congrats, Jade! Changing up longterm habit patterns is some impressive chit

My crutch was always cigarettes. Though I don't know that I get much credit since I used cigars to finally quit them

Sorry about your Buddy. Maybe some day, he will see the light. I know a few ex-drunks that are total Bible-Thumping, "John Barelycorn is evil and I must tell everyone so" types. Me? I don't give a $hit what other people do...until they reach out their hand for help. Most people are NOT alcoholics. Most people can enjoy a drink or 2 and occasionally over indulge without going off on a 2 week bender and ruining their lives. I'm not one of those people. I wouldn't be alive if I had continued drinking. I would just be a sad memory to my daughters and my family. I wouldn't have the great wife and life I have now. I had a choice to make 20 years ago. I made it and a promise to myself and I fought f*cking HARD for a couple of years to keep it. Now I couldn't imagine being like that again. But I ALWAYS remember what that life was like. If I forget what it was like, I'm in real danger

Great to hear that you’ve been able to confront the issue and overcome it Jade.

Had a very good friend that didn’t have the strength to make the decision you made.
He’s dead now
