Ron, you know I love you and Annie and I know that the Astros are her team BUT, I can’t cheer for those cheatin’ bassturds. And while the Phillies did beat my beloved Cardinals, I’ll be (…half-heartedly…) pulling for the NL team.

Go Phillies!

Not too invested overall, but leaning more towards Philly than Houston.

Have no dinner invites to risk thankfully

Nice having two teams and neither of them being scum bags.
Don’t like the Astros cheating scandal.
Looking for a good, entertaining seven game series with Houston coming out on top.

Recently wore my Astros hat gifted to me from brother dkeage.

Plus, they killed the Yankees so… Go Strohs.

And just like that, the “biggest mismatch in 100 years”:has turned into Philadelphia now being favored.

Household chores done, time to settle in for some baseball.

I personally think the Philly bullpen has some weaknesses that will start showing up as this series stretches out.

Btw, OTC don't really go well with guacamole and salsa. Hadda change to tortilla chips instead. Oh well, I tried....

Thanks whistle!!!

Just read about a very very strange "factoid" which is really strange....

This is the first world series since 1950 that zero black players are on either team in the world series...???

The Astros manager is black and he is very disappointed at this occurrence....the teams are full of Hispanics big-time but zero black players....just a strange factoid indeed....

Not the same in the NFL -AFL FOOTBALL LEAGUES...ALMOST THE EXACT OPPOSITE IN FACT...

Black Hispanics are still black.......and I'm betting Dusty could give a schit along as the Astros win.

Close, but not quite.
This is the first series since 1950 without an American born black player in the series.
Guess when it comes to baseball, not all black lives matter.

Not sure if this has happened before but there will be mirror image MLB and NFL games on Thursday. The Houston Astros will be playing game 6 of the WS in Philadelphia while the NFL Eagles will be at the Houston Texans.

NFL sure cares about player safety when they play on Sunday and then have to travel on a short week and play a few days later. Not fair for anyone to have such a short week, and if so you shouldn’t be traveling to do it as they can tie the bye weeks in to minimize this.

Iirc, in the beginning of the Thursday Night games, the matchups would be intra-divisional and both teams would be coming off their byes. Thus, Thursday games didn’t start till around Week 5 but ended around Week 12. Not sure what changed that but it’s gotta be because of money.

As the opportunity for both the League and the players to make more money by expanding TNF games, that change would lead to bigger TV contracts which led to a bigger salary cap which led to bigger player salaries.

So, to me, there’s shared blame.

The NFL expanded the number of games, took the bigger TV contracts and the NFLPA said, “Okay, the players will get more money so we’ll agree to more Thursday games despite the player safety challenges.”

As the Brains once sang, money changes everything.

True dat. And every time people bitch about the state of the league, non-guaranteed contracts or Goodell having too much power, they need to be reminded these things were negotiated away at the bargaining table.

Ironic watching the pitcher listening to his glove for the catchers pitch call. Shame you have to go to such extremes with people continuously finding ways to cheat. How long until they have people intercepting those signals?
