Well all you baseball experts?
What is the general consensus?

Just curious what others think.
I personally don’t like the DH. I think it ruined the American League, and now baseball in general.
So many more variables to manage when the pitcher has to hit.
More strategic decisions, more pinch hitting, more bunting, more player positional movement, etc.

The “new baseball” game…..home runs and strikeouts……..bores the chit outa me.
Then again I’m just an old fart stuck in the past…

I’m not a fan either.

It’s not honoring the history of the game (something baseball has done more so than any other major American sport) and it’s eliminated a big aspect of the game.

To play devils advocate I think the move puts the game more in the players hands than the managers. But it’s also forced the bullpen to be used more than in the past (not just because of the p us say pitch counts).

I always liked the stories from pitchers back in the day where if they couldn't finish the game, they'd be sent to run so they'd have more endurance next time around.

Not feasible currently, and there be a barrage of hits in the late innings if they tried, but still amusing

I am glad to see they removed the rule on extra innings a man on second... that to me is/was little league rules... I also am not fond of the DH. but in the past if a pitcher has a DH that's when they're off the mound for the rest of the game... I like seeing a pitcher having a fantastic night and everything he throws is working!!! (I'm a lifelong Cubs Fan) but I do give credit to the Players on other teams at the same time... My feelings for the Astro's is the management and players who knew they cheated and got away with a slap on the wrist, got to keep they're pennet of 2017 and players who got caught still allowed to play? that's BS. IE: Pete Rose lost it all over infractions back in the day and the same standards should apply today!!

Now we're reading about Albert Pujols using an illegal bat for 13 years. WTF? and the MLB knew about this? I have allot of respect for the man who loves the sport!!! same as Sammy Sosa and Mark Meguire who had the Homerun Derby going back and forth when baseball was dying off... then all the sudden they're both outlaws?

Not a big fan of Bryce Harper or dirty players who look down on their fan base!!! arrogant bastages!!!

Not a fan of the DH either.

As far as Albert’s bat goes:

https://www.bleachernation.com/cubs/2022/10/29/mlb-let-albert-pujols-use-an-illegal-bat-for-the-last-13-years-what/

Although I’m a Cards fan, if the reason for the ban was for safety, then I see no reason why Pujols should have been allowed to use it. A 1-year grace period while he looked for another bat would have been reasonable.

The announcers last night were just talking on this subject last night about how in just the past few years he's adjusted his mindset and settled down a bit?

Manny Machado is another player I do not care for much and that other dude that played for the Dodgers Right fielder who licks his bat?? d'oh!

I'm a life long Cubs fan, and Thats the same article I read this from and thought at first it was just a Cubs Columnists Whining until I seen something off the MLB site as well..

Safety? these Maple Bats are a danger to everyone around...In the past 3 years I've seen more broken bats during game then ever in the past? I do not think these manufacturers are placing the stamp correctly on the grains of the wood of the bats? which is the most important aspect of a solid bat.,,

https://www.sportscasting.com/what-type-of-wood-are-mlb-bats-made-of/

this method on placement is important in Axe Handles all the way down to hammer handles pics and shovels!!! because of the grain patterns improperly positioned causes more stress on the wood over time..

And quite possibly it could be the player himself not adhering to the old rule of keeping that Stamp to the up-right position while batting?

I am a fan of Sammy Sosa and Mark Mcquire who brought something back to the game of Baseball with the King of the Home Runs... and then the MLB started that controversy BS with both of them! A-Rod was another one... d'oh!
