Game 4 was one of the best displays of pitching I've seen in a long time.If the series goes to game 7 Cristian Javier could and probably will start but I'm still calling for Astros in 6.I'll update this prognostication after game 5 ....................and 6 if necessary. LOL

Please explain post #50?
Is their a speaker in his glove...
And a spy with binoculars reading the signals?

In the third game ? They said the Phillies at bat had info on what pitches were actually coming? And that this has been going on since the beginning of the sport?

I don't get either statement , yours or what I heard on TV..

Pitchers sometimes ‘tip’ their pitches. They don’t mean to. An example would be the pitcher holds his glove higher on his body when he’s going to throw a fastball, where every other pitch, his glove is at his waste. Scouts pick up on that stuff.

When they looked into his eyes and saw the pitcher's soul, the game was broke. I mean, short-term broke. And ah, the price of winning goes up and the scoreboard changed,"...something like that.

Everyone always forgets about looking into eyes.

The rule of thumb is to watch that ball and follow the ball to the Bat!!! "Eye on the ball, Ball to the Bat" I was taught this in little league and went on to coach it when my son played ball...
that was some fine pitching last night and although I cannot stand the Astro's I do like some players.. they took that spark out of the batters last night and they lost that simple rule of thumb, I asked the wife to watch these batters as they fell one by one and tell me what they are doing wrong? (it kept her quiet for the most part) but later she says... well they're not watching the pitch come... I said Exactly!!! prior to the ball coming they lift their head and turn their eyes to where they're wanting the ball to travel off the bat, not the ball to the bat.... she says well honey, it's bat to the ball... I said No, ball to the bat is the follow through!!! Herfing

good game anyways!!!

That's what I told the FBI-SSG FIELD CHief AND HIS CAPTAINS BACK in 2013 when they trained a whole new class of recruits on my sorry ass ....

"Hey dumb f*ck...(Gary) tell your new recriuts to GET OFF THEIR FUC*ing phones and use their E.Y.E.S....LOOK AROUND THEIR SURROUNDINGS...

NOT
AT
THEIR PHONES ...

the only thing I could figure out ? That maybe? Just maybe?
I was being filmed by someone? And everything I was doing was on their phones?

Otherwise it made zero sense to me...

Always watch the eyes...mostly with peripheral vision or mirrors or chrome or shadows...etc... Not a phone screen ..
Is how I learned tradecraft back in the 1970's

Sorry, I misspoke, not a speaker in his glove, it’s in his hat but they use the glove to trap the sound in and make it easier to hear. Instead of flashing signals the catcher wears a wristband and presses a button that then broadcasts the pitch to those in the field. The pitcher obviously has a speaker, but also some fielders because they use the pitch calls to know where to position themselves. Was watching a game earlier this season when Lindor was mic’d up and talking to the broadcast booth, and also showed off this cool feature for them and us the viewers. Technology taking over. Soon the home plate umps will only be there to broadcast the call from their pitch tracker and make other judgment calls.

As for the Phil’s knowing the pitchers, I would guess the pitcher was “tipping his pitches” and not exactly cheating. Garbages dans, buzzers, and people relaying the pitches is a different story, and what the Astros have done in the past. These guys watch every little minor detail of a pitchers delivery to see what differentiates say a fastball from a curveball etc. If you know a pitcher does a certain thing when he throws a certain pitch it makes it a lot less difficult to hit a ball. Trying to figure out a 95mph pitch, it’s location and timing it can be extremely difficult, so any little help is welcomed.

Best game yet...

A real battle...

Freakin' Philly's had several guys on base chances but they always had 2 outs when the Astros would get a guy on first with zero outs several times ..

The Astros are a tough competitor...

Astros win 3 to 2 ( Phil's)

And a 3 ASTRO'S / 2 Phil's...series

As a former college baseball player - it was nice to see Justin Verlander finally notch a World Series win. It was a long time coming and he deserved it.

This has been an entertaining series to watch. John Smoltz adds a lot to the broadcast with his experience. Glad Joe Buck Jr. is nowhere to be found.

Its all Good Bro... I'd been realling all day about possibly heading back into a Carpenters Job after being screwed over so many years ago... add Beers and then not realizing you'd gone into surgery (I seen that post the next day... LOL)

Hope your feeling better after surgery and all... Herfing

he's hell on Offense when he's on his mark!! But still struggles on defense... as a Cub fan I used to cringe when they hit the ball to him in a Clutch game such as last nights... he's got a hell of an arm as well, but has to stay on top of the ball to use it!!! Brick wall
