Also... many stores are within 1-2 miles of the house. WalMart and Costco are about 5-6 miles. Again... if I am not getting a bunch of stuff, the bike seems to be a much better option than starting and stopping the truck without even getting it up to temp.
Have been back and forth on them. Many upsides- more upside than down. If I could get over one more downside, would pull the trigger.
Downsides:
Storage: can’t keep it in the garage from November through March. Don’t remember what the exact temperature they can live comfortably in. Want to say it was around 40.
Battery Instability: Been hearing about lithium battery fires in houses and apartments. Why is that happening?
Price: So many variables. Rear or mid engine mounts, weights, braking systems, throttles. Hate to go too cheap, although Bucky has had good luck with a $500 model. Am not mechanically inclined. The two bigger bike shops in the area only work on bikes they sell.
Would want to have a cargo package like Shawn mentions. Important to get a durable high end lock for it too. Crime isn’t a big issue here, although according to on sales rep, three were stolen in the last month. All were locked up. Somebody with a bolt cutters.
Is there any locking system which could foil a bolt cutter?
