I moved from San Francisco. Victor808 took me to Folsom Street Fair during my time there. Google it. Hit images. I dare you.

See... now you did it right... but someone else paid for it, so it was doubly right.

I always try to time out door to door for the moving truck.

Corporate funded moves definitely make things a bit easier and they use the big name movers.

It’s possible.

The relocation budget paid for it.

What's the story, HD? You guys renting for the moment and looking for the new digs? Waiting for prices to drop further? Or did you find a place?

The wife came to Houston and went house hunting a month ago. We are renting for a year until we figure out the next steps. I kinda figure we are here two years. We aren’t really looking at Houston as a long term location.

The thought is the next move will be more retirement based and could be a Texas hill country location or back to Florida. I’m eyeballing Saint Augustine or Melbourne. If we do wind up back in Florida I want an area we haven’t already lived.

Wife got her drivers license and car registered yesterday. No more California tags!

We were driving under an underpass yesterday and I pointed out the vast amount of space that was enough for at least 50 tents. In NorCal it would have been packed with tents or fenced off by CalTrans and used to store tons of crap until it inevitably catches fire.

Second truck arrived Saturday so everything is now here and we’re out of the hotel and in the house and buried in boxes.

Cali house went on the market yesterday with open houses this weekend.

Got enough of the kitchen unpacked to make Cuban garbanzo bean soup and 1905 salad on Friday and smoked some ribs yesterday.

Wife has to fly back to California today for a business trip!

We’ve been here two weeks now. The house in California has now been on the market for ten days. We’ve received two crap offers and one that was close but too low.

Housing is in a recession nationwide. Silicon Valley is in a recession with many layoffs. 7% interest rates on mortgages have destroyed a lot of buying power and buyers are trying to get sellers to drop their price to make up for it. If the house sits long enough we do have a guaranteed buyout from the company so for now we are waiting and paying bills in two states. Fun!

Texas update: it is really weird seeing freeway underpasses without tent cities. It’s very clean here. Have not been to a Whataburger yet.

I have heard of a drop in mortgages to 6% but still high. I wish you the best, when we moved to South Carolina from Texas we almost ran out of duplicate home payments before selling the Texas house. We still had to throw in $17,500 to close. I hope you never have to that.

When we moved from Florida to California back in 2015 we were selling two properties and one took months. That was painful. We don’t have to go too long before we can take the buyout and close the California chapter. We just need and offer for $1 over the guaranteed buyout and we will take it. (There is a bonus if we accept an offer and not the buyout!)

A few months ago I'd say, "no worries, you'll get it"... but mofos are bailing on that dumpster fire in droves and the people coming in really can't afford your neighborhood. lol

They're more of the overpass tent city types.

That is kinda what we are seeing. The offers we’ve gotten are at their max qualifying and wanting us to drop price. They don’t know we have a guaranteed buyout after 2 months that is more than their offer. I can wait it out.

Good thing you locked into a guaranteed buy out. I think the market is on the cusp of a mini crash or correction.

Couple of things I've read is talking crash/correction mid to late next year. One of them was talking similar to '08 style crash. Of course, they're all just guessing

Fingers crossed for you HD
