So I’m passing through Wisconsin on my way to Fargo, ND and stopped for lunch. For an appetizer I ordered fried cheese curds. Mofo’s are damn good.

Yep, fried are great (depending on where you go) or even fresh when they squeak when you eat them... they are the bomb. Sadly I can't get them out here. We have VT and upstate NY dairy land just a couple hours drive away but for some reason the stores don't sell curds

Don't eat too many though, you'll be backed and have an aneurysm trying to poop.

I remember the first “Ice fishing Herf” I went to in Sconie wit Blacky, Rocky and Sledn, (met up with 8track and Baron one night). My bag was STUFFED with bags of curds and other cheesiness. The TSA guys got quite a chuckle .

Reminds me Blacky! It’s cool enough to ship now!! Pray

Had cheese curds just once. Daughter went someplace with her family and brought back their leftovers. Iirc, half a Wagyu hamburger and a bunch of CCs. The curds were still warm so ate a few. They all squeaked so from comments I had read before, knew they were fresh. Threw the rest into the toaster oven and warmed them up. Ate ‘em all.

Unless I go to the GB-Indy game at Lambeau next year, don’t think I’ll be visiting WI again. Wish I knew about cheese curds when I was in Appleton in the early ‘90s and later that year, in Milwaukee to watch the Packers play the Lions.

It was a truck stop in Menomonie, Wisconsin. I think it was called the Exit 45 Cafe.

Up in Fargo now. Snowing and 18 degrees. Took me about 9 hours to get here today. Snowed about 8 of those hours.

I’ve got two drops near here tomorrow AM then I head 2-3 hours west to Jamestown for my last drop. Afterwards, it’s down to Aberdeen, SD to pickup a load of beef headed to Phoenix, AZ. Supposed to snow tomorrow too.

Few yrs ago when I went back home for a visit, I loaded up with cheese stuff. Prolly 20 lbs of various curds, smoked cheese, sausages and stuff for friends out here.

While going through the screening line in Milwaukee they pulled me aside and had to search my carry on. Bomb swiped my carry on and my hands. I was like WTF? Apparently the x-ray and screening machines can't distinguish cheese from plastic explosives. Kinda felt bad for the guy. He said he has to do it about every 15 min.

Morale of the story, don't pack cheese in your luggage while traveling.

. Same thing with me about ten years ago. Had a regular lock on my suitcase. Didn’t know the law changed to TSA only locks. Had to go in a little room, unlock the case and take two steps back.

They opened it and said…. Cheese.

I responded with…. What did you think it was, C4?

What do you know about C4?

d'oh!

Yepppp, used to go to the Walmart DC on the south side of the exit all the time with cat litter…. I used to hangout at the Kwik Trip though, don’t think I ever ate at 45 Cafe. I like the Kwik Trips though, cheap decent food and like a mini grocery store and cheap prices compared to a normal truck stop.

Answer the question and only the question. Do not volunteer extra info. Have the mafia movies taught you nothing?

At the most 4. Depends on when the game is. My niece is a school teacher so it’s iffy if she can make it. Probably be 3 guys - two Colts fans and me.

This reminds me that years ago Blacky sent me a bag of curds. To return the favor I sent him an Arizona produced scorpion one of our top exports second only to sunburns.

Had the fried variety freshly made at the Minnesota state fair a few years ago. Artery clogging goodness!

Good topic, reminds me of the years at Volk Field Combat Readiness Center.. many years of 2 week Drunkin Fest!!!
https://ng.wi.gov/about/wiang/volk-field
Camp Douglas WI. Jim & Cathy's was the Bar of All Bars for our two week summer camps. everybody would meet back at Jim & Cathy's til closing time and then meander (roll or crawl) back to base and Barracks... Hustler WI had a cool little dive bar we'd all roll into as well... Coz's Pizza was another Joint we'd pile into..

Cheese and Beer/Booze was the Mission aside from our normal war games we played for two weeks!! when our time was up I'd pack the bike or car (whichever vehicle?) with Cheese Curds and take them home to the Family, one year the Kids and their Mother and I went on Vacation to the Dells.. we loaded up on cheese curds and brought them home to freeze and eat on occassions.. many times I'd open the freezer to find only one or two bags remaining. over the years I'd ride up to Milwaukee's Harley Plant to tour, with different Girlfriends and always bring home Cheese Curds... Now Curds is the Pandemic of epic proportions!!! Herfing

Fried, tossed in Homemade Chilli, stacked in homemade crockpot Lasagna. the list is endless... I'm a frickin Cheese Addict!!!d'oh! Brick wall Brick wall

As a psychologist, I can confirm that cheese curds and anti-depressants stimulate the same brain chemicals.

The ones in Wisconsin are for sure better but if you're in a pinch and need some curds, Buffalo Wild Wings are decent.

I am lucky. With my son going to college in Appleton, Wisconsin I have my hook up. I do not even have to ask. He knows. 2 bags of orange, 2 bags of white curds.

Then my youngest steals them. d'oh!
