Ymmv but I’ve noticed DE smokes don’t age as well as some other brands. Prime example, at least for me, are the LP #9s. Bought a few, smoked a couple after about a year. Really enjoyed them and thought they had a lotta potential so then let them sit for another 4-5 years. Tried one and it just wasn’t the same. Strength had definitely ebbed and the chocolately taste I enjoyed was very muted. Obviously iffin’ I had to do it all over again, I would have kept smoking them but buy a few every year to keep the “momentum” going.

Have also noticed the MUWAT smokes peak after 2-3 years and do a faster dive after that. But, like I said, ymmv so good luck with those NRs.

Thanks Palama. They were a "novelty" purchase since either Telecaster, Lee or or another one of the fine brothers in the trades section sent me one that was very unique and tasty. I figured I would give a fiver a shot, but they pale in comparison. I always figured that aging would just take the rough edges off a cigar's flavor, but these just don't have the flavor I recalled from the gifted one. Not even close.

Edit: For whatever reason, it just didn’t taste the same as earlier ones. My palate has never been one to write home about but it lacked the flavors that I enjoyed beforehand. And worse yet, at 2/3, it just kinda went south on me, tastewise, and I didn’t enjoy it at all. I didn’t dump it right then and there but after about 10 minutes, let it die an honorable death.

I like(d) the Vs, especially the lancero. In my notes on the non-lancero Vs, I said they were strong but tasty. IIRC, at one point on CBid, the Vs and the Melanios were highly thought of.

Maybe as the years went by, the newer tobacco used just wasn't the same so in the palates of many, the cigar lost it's appeal? Think

Just between you and me, don't tell anyone, the cigar was actually REALLY good. I had to purposefully slow my smoking rate to keep from overheating it because it was so delicious.

When I first bought them, I was disappointed. But a year and a half have done wonders, or maybe my tastes have changed. I think I got a good deal on them and bought at tenski. I'm glad I did.

I just figured that since Brazilia is (obviously) the best cigar in the world, something had to be the worst, so I picked the V.

😂. Seriously though the v does better after a couple years. Melanio does too but in my experience it’s not as drastic of a change. I’m half nuts so pay no attention to my hypothesis on resting cigars

Glad you liked it, Conan. That batch, bought a few years ago, was exceptional. Alas, the bunch I bought earlier this year, although pretty good, are not in that league...I hope they don't follow the pattern of the CH Las Calaveras; the first couple of iterations were tremendous but the later generations were a little less.

74336 - Oliva V corona. I wanted to see if this one also tasted like fermented smegma dipped in kerosene. It did.
With some notes of espresso and white pepper.
