Yum... but not from the gas station. Our local Publix does a pretty good job.

I'm good with the sushi that's battered and fried.

Yeah, I know. Not real sushi. I get a similar response from the FIL when I start talking about chocolate espresso martinis

Thx

It’s been great. Bought a Christmas tree today and put it up. My daughter called and said she wanted to come help me decorate it. While I was putting the lights on she laid down in Mom’s bed. I went to get her once the lights were on so she could hang ornaments. She said she wanted to sleep. So I decorated it myself.

All good. Just having her under the same roof was great Rx.

Bust day. Errands, hanging out with the kid, up North to see mom, dad, sister, her husband and kids. BIL got canned from his job on Monday. More of the corporate reset. Three sides to every story. i believe his.

Ham, potatoes, corn, squash, rolls, pie, cherry kringle, coffee, milk, beer.

Back to GB for cigars and some Jefferson bourbon.

Now trying to get through my World Cup backlog of games, Next live game in 4.5 hours.

Who wouldn't get up at 4:00 AM to watch Switzerland vs. Cameroon?

Happy Thanksgiving Thursday! It's 59° on the way to 61° today.

Wife Gloria is making fresh fruit salad to take to our older son's MIL's house to celebrate Thanksgiving. In the usual family tradition, he is working until late today. Several nurses in the extended family attending; some will no doubt be working, nurses and sick people do not get a holiday.

Got a call from our other son and DIL in Missouri, they are doing well, he is cooking and she is doing homework for her RN to Masters degree classes.

Thankful my shooting buddy is just getting over the flu and pneumonia.

Negative cheer warning on:

The daughter of an old friend I worked with and his wife, another nurse that worked with my wife, passed away due to an illness this week, God rest her soul. She is in a better place, but her parents could use some good thoughts to suffer the unbearable.

Negative cheer warning off:

Apologies for farting in church, please proceeded with the feasting and merriment of Thanksgiving.

Random fact: Slipper socks are a great invention (like those things you wear when in the hospital). Warm with the little grippy treads on the bottom. Important footwear for indoor winter time especially if you have hardwood and/or tile floors.

Happy Turkey day to all. If you're traveling, be safe. If you are not traveling, be safe.

Small low level feast here. Prolly about 6 people. Turkey, stuffing, taters, veggies, few pies. ETA for eats is about 2-ish eastern.

I haven't changed out of my sleepwear yet. Prolly won't. Casual company plus I'm 98.2% sure there is a nap in the future.

Turkey stock for gravy is on the stove.
Turkey is in the oven.
Cranberry sauce was made yesterday.
Yeast rolls are rising.
Green bean casserole is assembled.

I’ve still got to do the stuffing and blueberry cobbler.

It’s just the two of us but we always go overboard at thanksgiving.

Have a buddy that used to have a fishing lodge in Matagorda. 60 miles from my house. That was great!

Too bad he was OCD and an ahole to his customers. Finally had to sell it. Brick wall

It's been 30 plus years since I was in Matagorda, a colorful area of weekend fishing shacks and beach homes back then. It was the beach we often visited when we lived about 18 miles away in Bay City. We've visited cousins there and while it's still a small town, Bay City has grown by leaps and bounds since we left.

Nephew's getting more athletic. May have to start working out if I want to keep up. Of course, if we raise the hoop to regulation, I could probably retain my advantage for another year or two

Holidays just aren’t the same, found out my grandpa was sick about two months ago… been a fast down hill, has lung cancer and has spread to his bones in about 10-12 different places, a couple weeks ago while at one of the long term hospitals his arm broke while they were moving him and the week before last they were moving him and his right leg broke, they moved him to the hospital and did emergency surgery on his leg last Monday and his arm Wednesday…. Moved him to hospice care the other day, went and seen him today for a few hours.

To go back just a bit, took my boy deer hunting last Saturday in the stand me and my grandpa hunted out of last Saturday and I scored a nice eight point buck, it was a bittersweet moment…..

Draw currently.
USA is playing well- England better.
Last couple of minutes it has been USA.

My day started out great then went to hell just south of Gainesville, FL. Had a blow out on my trailer. Have to limp 15 miles down the interstate to the nearest truck stop and have it changed. Was planning to stop in Orlando for visit, but that looks in serious doubt now.

Bummer. Always wondered about those alligator tire skins along the roadsides. Must need a serious Jack to get that off of the ground.

What happens when you get a flat in eastern Fumbuck New Mexico? I recall driving from Amarillo to Arizona, and for one stretch, we couldn’t even get a radio station. It just kept scanning. After 45 minutes we had the faintest of am radio signal pushing out Christian talk.
