wouldn't bother me...if they get the actual shooter.
But what if dozens of people have their guns out after hearing shots?
Who you shooting if you're the first cop on there?

If dozens have responded to the threat. I'm assuming the threat has been stopped at that point. Either reholster and get your hands up or set the gun down, step back and get your hands up.

I would hope...sincerely.

But wasn't there a security guard or something like that who was mistaken for an active shooter and killed in a mall in recent years.

At least in the Walmart story it sounds like a somewhat contained area.

It's a risk definitely. Ideally they'd be on the phone with 911 and able to relay info to officers. It'd be a high stress situation for all parties though.

clearly not simple...can't even picture a standard procedure manual.

In this case the guy was in a meeting (I think) but in the very recent one at the drag club the guy was dressed to kill and luckily the retired Army Major was there.

But even the hero could have been shot by someone in attendance or cops rushing to the scene who arrived in time to only see him holding the gun he had just taken from the shooter.

I have no answer. So far it seems that there's some risk in life...

Appleton WI. A black dude hit someone and pulled a gun. Someone called the police.
Cops showed up, waived at the cops with his left hand, while holding the gun in his right. Cops shot him dead.
He was legally carrying his weapon (C&C) and was a good guy trying to direct cops.

If it happened in middle class Appleton Wisconsin, it probably happens in less nice places.

Ted's was 56 single spaced typed pages ...with 10 pages of footnotes and stuff...

(35,000 words..."Industrial Society and it's Future")
not some three sentences death note on a flip phone...

F*cking American press has to have an eye catching headline even when they are false lies and stuff...

Gotta watch out for those Walmart workers with offices. Next thing you know one of them will have an anti electric car manifesto.
