Boxes vs 5 packs

In my experience, I seem to get a better and more consistent cigar quality when I buy a box vs a single or a 5 pack. Just wondered if anyone has any thoughts on this?

Haven't really noticed a difference myself.

I've sometimes wondered if bundles are aged as long after rolling as the boxed version of the same stick, as they have tasted more fresh on occasion. But overall, no I haven't noticed a quality difference. And as soon as I discovered that there was nothing magical about a box--I saved a LOT of money (or rather, spent a lot of money, lol).

I think there are reasons that cigars offered in a box may be more consistent than 5 packs, 3 packs, etc.

There is more volume to marry the flavors/aromas in a full box.
Before boxing the cigars are sorted for color consistency, etc and any held out can be put in packs where presentation is not as noticeable.
I have noticed this with Habanos but can't say it has made much difference in the taste.

I kind of noticed this as well... I'm sure its better because there are 20 or 25 as only 5 to a 5 pack

i have mixed feelings, depends on who you get them from. C.i. i have never noticed a differance. When i used to do bussiness with *** 9 out 10 times there was a negative differance, some times they were so plugged just tossed them. I thought they sold the returns as 5 Packs, Only my idea ?.

No. At least not Habanos which are packaged at the factory in 5 and 3 packs.

I’ve always wondered if 5 packs were seconds and good ones go in boxes. Boxes per stick cost more on Cigar Bid. I really think boxed ones are better quality, better draw. I wish CB would answer this question but that’s not happening.

Idk, I've had duds from boxes and great smokes from 5ers. Could be, but that hasn't been my experience

I can't say that I've noticed a quality difference. When I was smoking cigars the first time, I mostly bought boxes, and getting rid of the empties was a thing. I didn't want to toss them in the trash, so I was constantly trying to doff them off on friends and family. "Don't you want a cigar box to put those [insert noun] in?"

Nowadays, I am a net box importer as I buy so many 5vers and have to buy empty boxes to put them in so that I can stack in the tupperdor. Luckily SJ's in Philly will just give empties away, so whenever I'm near them, I grab a couple.

But, if I'm being brutally honest, I have nothing interesting to add to this topic. I just wanted to post so that I would have 1000 posts! I DID IT!!

I would like to thank my agent, my lovely wife, and mother, and my mother's wife, and my wife's mother, and my mother's mother without whom none of this would not have been possible.

Do I get a door prize? Is there a secret handshake? Platinum membership? Do I get to see the commie 13 (or 7 or 12 or whatever it is) list?
