I know I’m going to get kicked in the teeth for this but other than CB I haven’t bought smokes anywhere else on line. Maybe CI years ago but recently this is it.
So going on to other sites I’m seeing smokes that I’ve never even heard of before! I mean, there’s a whole other world out there!!
I suppose its poor form to talk about other sites but good lord it looks like CB has a lot of the same old same old.
Am I off base here? Again I know I’m opening myself up for some shots but…yeesh

There are other places that are well known and scary out there that have cigars you will want to smoke. Most of us here don't buy from here that often anymore. You will be in the same boat soon.

Don't forget that some of them are small but sweethearts. And then there are those on the right coast but obtainable only by sea.

When I first started smoking premium cigars, my initial online purchases were somewhere else but a h.s. classmate told me about CBid and it all went downhill from there! But, Google, when done right, can be your friend! fog

Actually scored some warped la Colmana here recently. Really happy with price. I get my any time smokes here every so often. Which I don’t need to buy any of for a couple years.

The days of killer deals here is pretty much over for now. I still buy here when I can get a great deal but those are few and far between. I'll buy wherever I can get a deal but right now is not a good time. I spend a lot of time looking and bidding here when I do and usually get outbid on 98 % of my bids - way too many snipers. My last great and extraordinary buy was in October of '22 when I got 197 cigars for $ 73 plus shipping and tax.I doubt if that will ever happen again..

I hope you’re wrong but fear you’re right. d'oh!

Of course your “…for now” still gives everyone hope that they’ll be back albeit in smaller numbers and farther in-between.

I’ve cut my “regular” purchases down significantly to almost nothing and really only buy if it’s a HTF that I would like to have but not gotta have.

Your 197 for $73 is awesome (…or awful, depending on what you won…Laugh ).

At $0.37 per cigar, you probably got the once-in-a-lifetime deal / steal.

DP Newell would be proud of you! Applause

On average how much are you paying per stick? Providing they have what you want I haven’t found any better deal. Before I found cbid I would find deals but not even close to the prices here. I stopped by the local shop in CT yesterday and picked up some smokes they make that I like but walked away thinking I could get three times the amount for other cigars I like on cbid. I’ll keep buying those $10 smokes there because I like supporting local but the majority of my smokes come from cbid. I can usually find what I like for $3 on average. Some $2, some 4 or 5. So how much are you paying per cigar on average?

I remember seeing this when I first found this place (and discovered CBid) and thought there was no way that would happen to me.

MAP pricing pretty much ruined this place for me. Just can't find many I'm looking for here any more.

Only 5 cigars I shop for here.
I will occasionally shop for yard gars, and have scored well on those, and I’ll bid on pipe baccy and sometimes win at very good prices.

There are a small handful of inexpensive cigars that I'll by as smokes for walking around/handing out to non cigar folks/gardening/fishing, etc... but the days of getting the next level up or higher at a discount here has been gone for a while now.

I started buying here a couple of months ago and have dropped way more coin that I expected. I really enjoy Excalibur No. 1. a box retails for ~$145. I scored 2 boxes here for around $70 each. I also set myself a limit of $5 per cigar, and have been able to pick up a bunch of 5 and 10 packs of Nubs, Flatheads, CAO blacks, diesels, Rocky Patel 10 year, and Vintage etc. so im really happy with that.

Wish they had decent Fuentes besides curlyheads though, and price could certainly be better on My Father and AJ Fernandez.

So I stick around for what they have, and go elsewhere for what they dont have

I just started here as well and have been scooping up Cohiba red dots and maduros for under 5 a stick, some montes and buffalo traces for super reasonable prices even compared to the 3 other online shops I used to use before finding CBid. I do however hope the luster of this site wears off for me because I'll be blowing a check in here no problem otherwise.

That is a high price for the red. Exercise some restraint and put the auctions in your lot watch just for tracking prices. Some days of the week are not days that things go cheap. Other days you can find much better deals. One thing you can do is watch for auctions that have a lot of units available. Auctions with one or two units are tougher

If and when I do bid on cigars here I use the max bid option. Set it at about 60-65% the price listed on Cigars International. If I win, fine. If I don't, also fine.

I just won a few auctions on CBid, but it will likely be my last unless I forget this experience... It;s not the ordering, the pricing or the slow shipping (all the usual complaints). It's the shipping charges. I really needed a few boveda packs, so once I won them, I bid on two different five packs of cigars and won. So, total of ten cigars and four bovedas. Shipping is $11.45. That's just bananas. I could order a full box of cigars from anywhere else and pay maybe $5-8 shipping. I love you CBid, but I am not ordering here simply due to the shipping gouging. Pretty sure they are charging me $1 PER boveda as an "accessory" item add-on inthe shipping 'saver' program.

1st 5er - $6.95
2nd 5er - $0.50
4x bovedas - $4.00

And then there are state taxes. My last order was 15% shipping and taxes. Smaller orders will have larger percentages. Still better than other places in per cigar costs.

Yeah, I've placed larger orders on here and been hit with a $35 shipping charge when any other online retailer would have gladly shipped them for free. The $1 per extra item is great psychological trick to get us to order more (I do) AND charge more for shipping. They tricky bastids.

That is the great thing about the Page.
Free, and FAST shipping.
And they do have good deals from time to time.

As many have noted, the glory days here and at the other place are looooong gone.
Heck, even the mb3 place only has CRAP in their CLEARANCE section.
One used to score great smokes there years ago…………....like Pre Davidoff Camachos, etc

Here is the thing with that place (I order plenty from there, I am not biased):

The "free shipping" fee is built into the cost of EACH item you order. This is fine if you only order one thing, but as soon as you order a few or a whole bunch, you are now by default paying the "free shipping" fee on each item, despite them being shipped together at a much reduced shipping cost to the retailer.

Oh yah! I took a little too much time to decide which vitola(s) to get and by the time I decided, iirc, they were sold out of the Robustos and Coronas so got the Nacionales and Petit Coronas instead. Later got some Cetros through an inventory thinning by Napalm.

The small place sometimes bumps up their pricing but not so egregious that it dissuades me from ordering from them when they’re on one day special.

Applause

Because I’ve reduced my buying to a 5er or two, the small place is perfect for me. I also like that they have a Rewards program so after a few orders, I have enough to redeem and use those credits to further reduce my costs.

And yah, the daily e-mails pile up and once in awhile they send their newsletter too so you get a double hit.

Honestly, the last really good deals I got were around Black Friday, bunch of places had "no restrictions % off" of anywhere from 20-25%. Used that to pick up MAP stuff like Padron and AF sticks. The tenski place does sometimes offer a selection with "see discount in cart, wink wink" pricing that averages about %25 percent off on their prices that is a pretty good deal, assuming the selections offered are sticks you like. Scored some Brulee and a few other sticks at decent prices then.

Thank goodness I missed that sale! 😵‍💫

But, iirc, I purposely glossed over all messages from cigar vendors during the week leading up to BF just so that I wouldn’t be tempted. So mighta seenit but closed my eyes and hit “Delete” instead. Not talking
