Mattie and FGM are in the Brandon/Jackson area. Some distance away from where the death toll was high.
Haven't heard nor seen anything from Mattie in years.
FGM was on a Vherf I was one a few months back.

Mattie B texted me about two months ago offering his knowledge of Key West when he learned my daughter is getting married there in November.
Hopefully I will remember to call him tomorrow...

heard back from Mattie this morning...They are all fine as the severe weather was well north of them...and Ray lives in his area so is probably safe from the storm too.

He hasn't been in touch with the guys in the Tupelo are for a few years so no report (I think one was Mo or Ahmed, good guy) and Todd the general is on the gulf.

He does appreciate our concern, misses a few here, but probably won't be back as a poster because, in so many words, it was not fun anymore...too bad.

but the news is good!

No current weather issues here in my part of LA.

I do hate what the folks in the Sip are currently going through. One has to see this type of damage up close to really realize just how bad it is.

Frank, thanks for asking.

when folks I respect thank me for something, I ALWAYS say, "you'd do it for me".

You'd do it for me, and many others, I'm sure.

You're welcome.

Frank, with a little work you could be a bonified southern gentleman.

Hope all is well at Casa Frank.

Frank is good peeps. I say we call a vote on honorary status. I vote in favor. If elected though it’s only provisional. He’ll have to make a trip down and eat some boiled crawfish to make it official.

I'm not a water animal eating fan (they all taste pretty fishy to me) but aren't crawfishes kinda like an appetizer size thingy? Kinda like eating 50 mozzarella sticks without the inevitable constipation?

easily...but is sucking the head some kinda fraternity initiation rite of passage?

actually, I've had some, up here though. I'm sure they were previously frozen even if the restaurants denied it, but they fit my flavor profile...especially the kind with the hybrid Viet seasoning (or whatever that was).

One restaurant (now closed) did seem honest when they explained they only had fresh ones like two months a year...I think April and May?

Something like that. Depending on time of year and source they run anywhere from 20-30 to a pound for an average field run to as few at 10-15 a pound for the larger ones. It takes about 6 pounds of live to yield a pound of meat.

Constipation isn’t a worry. As highly seasoned as they are they burn on the way in as well as on the way out.

Frank - I moved south from NY over 17 years ago. I am still working on my accent.

You can take the boy out of NY but you cant take NY out of the boy.

We enjoy sushi and sashimi, but I never got the taste for mudbugs. Growing I caught them for bait, they lived int he nasty back water.
