Speaking of bombardment!

TIVER 21 MAY ‘24
Tiver absolutely bombed me with 27 different cigars, 10 of which I have tried before and the rest are NH. I’ve received a couple of the NH from this forum but have not tried them yet. This gives me the opportunity to try more than just one before deciding if I want to buy more 20 years from now when I have made room in storage. There are a couple good ol’ yard ‘gars which are most welcome for sure, a handful of mid-tier sticks that are underrated, such as the Prensado and CAO Anniversary Cammie, a few LGC Serie R and Monte Media Noche which are perennial favorites and a couple of Padrons including a 1964 Anniversary Series Sobrano Maduro! (!!!). Tiver also did the grunt work of including an alphanumeric inventory w/dates received for each cigar; Yeoman’s work and very much appreciated. I didn’t do an inventory for my last 2 boxes I sent out but now I feel motivated to up my game.
Greg, this is generous in spirit and, not to be vulgar but, cold hard cash as well. I look forward to jumping right in w/some of these and others will get a nice long nap. Thank you very much for an awesome selection of favorites and never-hads. Truly over the top!

Corey, daggum dude. First, thank you very much, seriously. Second, my storage is wrecked, seriously. You sank my battleship! I will get a full report out later, this is going to take a minute. Or several hours. Just wanted you to know that the enormous box made it in tact. I’m seriously overwhelmed with your generosity.

Glad they finally arrived Jeebs. USPS had them stuck in limbo longer than usual.

Your response was exactly how I hoped you would view things. Upon buying some of the budget cigars on CBid we often wonder if they will be at all worth our time. Then have to further wonder what if they had 12 mos of rest, would they smoke any better? Most of the CBid stuff on the list has 8 - 18 mos on them. That ought to give some idea for those smokes. Then there's a couple curiosity smokes like the MOW side projects.

The mid range stuff is just that, but hoping to get you a few you might not have tried.

I know you and I like Danm reviews from the smokin' azzhats thread and from the spring '24 blind review pass. When he wrote glowingly (blindly) about the Buffalo Trace and I knew I'd had some for a year or so, I thought that would be something you could jump into as soon as acclimated. It will be interesting to see how you like it. Hell, I haven't smoked but one, when they were ROTT, so I will see for myself as well.

If you haven't had an AJF Last Call maddie, I say there pretty solid for a $3-$4 cigar. I like 'em quite well.

The Dominican Creams were one of the first things I ever bought on CBid several year ago. I think I paid $.90 ea for them.RollEyes I remember you asking about them months ago. Pretty sure they're a mixed filler. I included 2 of them for a little nostalgia. Super mild.

Enjoy

Nice hit Tiver.
Can't wait to see Corey's blast as well.

Jake, take your time brother. Waiting on some new containers to arrive for more storage anyway.

Thanks, Tiver, for remembering those posts and taking the extra effort to send me some smokes that you know I’m interested in. I don’t know if I actually mentioned the AJF Last Call or not but I’ve been wanting to try that as well, ever since I heard a story that AJF smoked that blend as his last cigar of the day for awhile. But you hit the nail on the head with the others that you mentioned. Lots of NH and several favorites. You truly know what to gift the man who has everything! 😎 I’ll let you know when I smoke these.

Lesson learned. The more you eff around, the more you find out. Corey hit me with an unbelievably generous and enormous MOAB. Several high quality singles, a couple full collector boxes, another unique collector item “De Culebro”, and a brand new refillable torch lighter. Most of these are dated 2017 and 2018 and the only cigars I have that are older than 6 or 7 months are a few singles I’ve received as gifts from other brothers. I expect to be claimed as an exemption on Corey’s 2024 tax filing. Corey, this is truly over the top generosity. I would not have bought myself a variety of this many top shelf cigars in 6 months or more. This is greatly appreciated, I’m excited to have them, and I will carefully rest / age them and smoke them all (which I can hardly wait to do!). Thank you so much, Corey.

Loose sticks:

AVO RITMO Toro

B21, thanks for remembering to post your reaction here. You can include it on the azzhat 1,000,000 also if you want. I’m very glad you enjoyed the cigar. I’m a noob and what I have learned is that most cigars I get in the mail need at least 3 weeks of rest at proper RH. They burn properly and the pepper bombs like AJ Fernandez or Espinosa get the hard edges smoothed off a bit. The dark Maduros, in my limited experience, do even better with a longer rest, like 3 months minimum. The syrupy molasses or over powering mineral salts kind of mellow out and become more balanced. Anyway, that’s just my experience and I know you will find the perfect storage set up for your smokes. Don’t forget to share your experiences with us, brother.

And as drgInc sez, STAY SMOKEY!
