YOU MUST BE AN ACTIVE MEMBER OF THE FORUMS TO PARTICIPATE!!!!!!!!!!!
(Noobs must be active for two months at the very least and have a minimum of 2 trades from different people.)

IF YOU MEET THE ABOVE RULES let me know and I will put you on the list .

ATTENTION NOOBS!!!

YOU MUST BE AN ACTIVE MEMBER OF THE FORUMS TO PARTICIPATE!!!!!!!!!!!

Background: This thread is designed to allow new members to get a good sampler of cigars from an experienced smoker. It also has the underlying intent of fostering the brotherhood whereas an experienced smoker provides mentorship and advice about which cigars are in (their) opinion the best out there. Listed below are “Some” specifics that will help us to get started. Previously it has been about the destruction of Noob’s mailboxes. I am interested in feedback, especially if there is something that I did not clearly articulate.

Explanation: What is the Newbie Sampler?

A specific thread where a Newbie (or anybody new to CBID) can trade for a variety of Cigars. The experienced guy would help the Newbie decide which cigars best fits their tastes based upon the feedback from the Newbie and would tell the Newbie what he would want in return for the sampler. The Newbie would get the “experienced” guy what he wanted and the "experienced" guy would send the Newbie a nice package of assorted cigars.

Benefits: Why would I want to trade with these people?

1. First and foremost, time and money will be saved by the new person.
2. The new person will receive a large variety of smokes. All of which have been well maintained and are not dog rockets.
3. Mentoring from an experienced cigar smoker.
4. A start to a good trader rep on Cbid

Mechanics: How is the trade going to work?
Either an experienced smoker will inform me that they are ready to take on a Newbie or I will query for Newbies looking to be assigned a Vet. A new person would post that they are interested in getting a sampler. At that point I will query for Vets to step up and be willing to "sponsor" a Noob. I will assign the Newbie a Vet. The experienced trader(Vet) would post on the thread PM sent and reply to the Newbie. The deal would then be handled between the two people and the experienced trader would update the thread by posting Newbie trade completed with (insert tag here). Listing of damages is always desired.

NOOB ALWAYS SENDS FIRST!!!!!!

This will allow everyone to see the progress of the Newbie thread.

Summary: If the trade does not work out where both people are totally satisfied then either or both parties can contact me and I will do my best to make it right.

VETS: Let me know if you are interested in being assigned a Noob.

Remember noobs this is not in any way about how much you send to your vet, there is no need to feel like you need to impress us. This is more about trading credibility and making friends.

Have fun!!!!!!

Corey

I’ll send to someone just so I can get cred if they will allow and so it just so it doesn’t seem like I just want free stuff. You already picked me up in another thread which why im assuming you said Noob PIB.

Hey Corey, good to see you step up and take over this shebang...I have bad-mouthed this a few times, accusing noobs of hitting and running. There was a lot of that a few years ago when the vets caught on and stopped volunteering to take on a noob.

However, in your support and to do my little part to try to restore some luster to this once proud tradition, with your permission, I will add my name to the VET list.

I object on general principle to giving him a pass. Feel like the trade is part of the bonding process. Otherwise, it's just another bomb from GA, which was gonna happen sooner or later regardless.

Also, I ain't playing favorites. Noob/vet pairing was always dealers choice, and you'd be the dealer

It's not a cred thing, B. You've done some PIBs. It's simply that the trade with the vet your paired with is the whole point of this thread

I’m not really interested in receiving cigars right now. I am more interested in having a mentor. I’ve got plenty of smokes and a hellified variety to sample. I’m offering this as general feedback.

Corey, as your first official act as nOOb/vet coordinator I think the match up of rfenst and Jeebs sets the stage for terrific precedence. Dare I say even profound. Both of these brothers have incredible balance in their social discourse within the forum. I have read many of their posts and recognize their abilities to hold opinions without demeaning those who hold viewpoints that are contrary to their own.

While the social discourse within the forum is separate from the cigar discussion, it is incredibly fortuitous to bring these brothers together. Both display respect for others and a very reasonable rationality within their viewpoints.

A fine example of cigars bringing the world together. I believe this to be a great match up.
