The Preferidos by La Aurora was the first cigar manufactured in the Dominican Republic back in 1903. Its beautiful, unique shape was designed to offer a perfect smoke of varying intensities. Preferidos, the cigar that established the cigar-making tradition of the Dominican Republic, is now rolled once again in limited quantities to mark a century of excellence and dedication to cigar-making.
The 91-rated Emerald variety combines an oily Ecuador wrapper from Africa with long-fillers from Brazil, Cameroon, and the Dominican to promote a complex, medium-bodied smoke teeming with flavor. These tobaccos are extensively aged, spending a minimum of 4 years in oak rum barrels in addition to a long cedar nap. This process produces a rich core of woody, nutty undertones throughout with a gentle sweetness and notes of cream.
