The Preferidos by La Aurora was the first cigar manufactured in the Dominican Republic back in 1903. Its beautiful, unique shape was designed to offer a perfect smoke of varying intensities. Preferidos, the cigar that established the cigar-making tradition of the Dominican Republic, is now rolled once again in limited quantities to mark a century of excellence and dedication to cigar-making. Each tobacco leaf used in the Preferidos line is extensively aged, spending a minimum of 4 years in old rum oak barrels, in addition to aging in cedar. A marvelous yet painstaking process.
The 92-rated Preferidos Maduro is amazing. A dark, carefully fermented Arapiraca maduro wrapper from Brazil. Beneath this leaf, a choice Dominican binder secures a medium-bodied blend of prized long-fillers from the Dominican, Cameroon, and Brazil. The smoke is rich in dark, roasted flavors including earth, toast, and nuts, complemented by smoked hickory and sweeter notes of black cherry and raisin. Complex indeed, these intriguing flavors are delivered in luxurious fashion, completing a medium-bodied work of art sought by many and savored by the most discerning palates.
