AT&T would be the provider. This is for my son who recently jumped into a swimming pool with his in his pocket. After trying to dry it for a few days he couldn’t revive it. What he had is a LG Neon. He mostly uses it for texting, and an occasional call nothing else.

I’ve got a Blackberry Bold 9700 that was the wife’s Len. Even got the box w/ instructions, software, usb cable etc.

Gotta make sure she’s not hanging onto if for any reason....which I doubt. If not, it’s yours bro.

i have an older flipstyle. no keyboard or anything but it’s in good condition. i think it’s green so he doesn’t have to worry about it being "girly".

 7. Author: KPP Date: 07/28/2010  10:28 PM Reply
^ in case the girly comment was directed toward the phone being my wife’s....it’s either dark blue, or black.....the thing ain’t pink bro ;).

lol no at one point i was gonna say it was my girlfriends old phone. we got new ones though and usually keep the last ones as backup but verizon messed up and sent us a ghost chocolatetouch. then we donate out older reserve phones to the troops.

For future events involving sensitive electronic devices and water, you can try putting the device in a bag of rice. I have seen that work at times when all else fails. It worked for my BIL’s Crackberry that was doused a few months ago. He tossed it in a bag of rice and put that bag in another baggie overnight. The next morning his non-functioning phone started working again. It still behaves erratically at times, nothing major. But definitely better than having to replace the phone.

Thanks for that advice. He was told that by his grandma (we were at her house swimming) and so he buried it in rice in a tupperware container. Checked it everyday for 3 days straight and nothing

for all incidents involve phones dropped in ANY liquids.... get the phone’s battery out AS FAST AS YOU CAN... this is all that matters is getting the battery charge out of the device before any water can get in and blow any cercuit board lines. after that leave it opened up... preferably take it appart if you can(after your water stickers turn colors it’s no longer under warrenty anyways) and let it sit for at least 72(preferably 2 solid weeks) hours in a warm airy environment to let it dry and get any any moisture out of the silicon(silicon is what most humidor beads are made of, so put 2 and 2 together). rice will work good as long as there isn’t a lot of powdery starch and it sits still so the starch doesn’t stick to the condensation inside the phone and make things even worse. and never ever ever use salt. both starch and minerals like salt are conductive... best advice is get a phone with a sim card or mini sd and save your contacts to that and have a back up phone.

I have a cell phone engineer friend. He says keep some high contnt alcohol and dip the phone it(like rubbing alcohol) or 1560 proof crap. LOL

Dip phone in alcohol as it will mix with water and dry so much faster. then do the rice thing and he says it has never failed anyone that has tried it that he knows of.

sorry to hear but I am Sprint and no extra phones.

:(

Sorry Len.....it’s a no go at the buffalo show....

Apparently it was a phone paid for with the company dime, and she thinks she’s got to return it. They haven’t asked for it back from her yet and it’s been a few months, so I doubt they will.....but she wasn’t willing to risk not having it if they did.

So.......Len is still ISO folks.....somebody hook the brudda up ;).

Nate I think I am interested since KYLE "flaked" on me. I just don’t want to make things difficult or expensive for you to ship. Let me know when you have it in hand and I’ll let you know if we picked up something by then.

Patrick can you EM me? my handle at aol

Kyle yes I was razzin you. I understand the wifey not wanting to send it out then have work ask for it.

^ not to mention, you should’ve seen her face when I told her what/who it was for....LMAO...

she already thinks i’m effin’ crazy for having boxes of cigars show up on the doorstep all the time....apparently SHE didn’t want to contribute to me helpin’ out a fellow BOTL. Damn wives I tell ya.....they’re fun-suckers....LOL!

If it doesn’t work out Len, I might have another AT&T LG lyin’ around somewhere. I never toss my phones, but I’d have to search an awful lot of drawers/cupboards etc. LMK.

Why even bother, Len? He is just going to come back and disappoint you again.

At least I told you up front I couldn’t help you rather than acting like a hero and then not being able to come through...

Not sayin’ that is what Kyle did, though. LOL

texting on an AT&T phone?

Dude,
If it were me, I would get him a $30 Go Phone, and drop his Sim card in. My employees are rough on phones, so after they ruin one "nice " phone, I replace them with the cheap Nokia. They get the message quick.

Funny, I just got off the phone no less than two minutes ago with ATT about a problem my daughter had with her LG Vue. The screen was smashed and lost all the liquid and now is inoperable.
I called ATT. NO inurance(my faullt), no upgrade for twelve months. They told me about a program they have for people who have no other options to purchase some phones for a discounted price. we could get:

LG Neon for $29.99

Or

Samsung Flight for $69.99

both are texing phones(God forbid they can not text). My daughter is 19 and we had to get the family text plan(she pays for it) because she uses over 1,000 texts a month.

GEEZE!

Take your pick Len and I’ll ship it out on Monday.....heading out of town tomorrow and won’t have a chance to make it to the PO before that. The "Plum" one is like a deep purple. The pic makes it look brighter than it is, but not sure if your son would care. Have the boxes and charger for both......might even have the car chargers still, but would have to look.
