The Legends Series is a very special project that has grown enormously in popularity among our customers, as well as our suppliers. Rewind to the past, we asked 4 of the world’s top cigar makers to create the best damn cigar they could, with two constraints. 1) Each cigar had to be 5.75” x 54 in size and 2) the cigar has to retail under $5 per cigar. It became free game, as each maker did the rest of the work, comprising a blend that he felt was the ultimate handmade, dollar for dollar. Since this time, 4 more top-notch makers have joined in the fun, with several others chomping at the bits to accompany them. That’s Legends, a “best of the best” collection of boutique beauties that epitomize the cigar industry’s true talent.
Cuban expatriate Rolando Reyes, Sr.’s Puros Indios is an excellent cigar with a unique, robust and aromatic taste. Roly’s entry shows clear evidence of the artful blending genius he is known for, but here also gives us a cosmetically beautiful cigar. Utilizing a hand-selected, supple Ecuadorian-grown Connecticut shade leaf, he complements it with a well-aged blend of choice Dominican and Honduran long leaf. It’s quite flavorful smoke, but surprisingly mild in strength. Consistent throughout, this hefty Honduran-made toro loads your palate with thick volumes of velvety smoke, giving off smooth notes of toasted wood that are complemented by a variety of mellow earthy undertones. The slow, cool burn allows you to fully appreciate the deep depths of flavor of this soothing premium.
