Limitada ‘08 is a savory and satisfying smoke, to be frank, and there’s a good chance you’ll find this blend to be the fullest in flavor among the 5 Vegas Limitada portfolio to date. Much of this has to do with the dark and oily wrapper. It’s a Dominican-grown Corojo Oscuro leaf that has been fermented to absolute perfection. So think and juicy, this leaf imparts a rich and chewy flavor that almost seems ‘wet’ on the palate, offering a nice sweetness to boot. Beneath this leaf awaits a medium to full-bodied mixture of vintage long-leaf tobaccos cultivated in 2002, including Dominican Piloto Cubano, Dominican Corojo ligero, Nicaraguan ligero, and Brazilian leaves. The end result is a deep series of oaky, spicy components mingling with rich, coffee-like nuances. The finish is sweet, thanks to the dark oscuro wrapper, while the aroma is that of charcoal and wood. If you want a truly complex cigar that builds in intensity throughout the burn, you don’t want to pass this one by.
