Cigar Size: Toro (6.0" x 52)
The other day my friend was telling me that the age of boutique blends is over, and I was able to stop him in his tracks with two little words: Palo. Prieto. Yes, this small-batch handmade proves that the glory days are far from gone, and that boutique offerings still deserve a front and center seat in the limelight. And with over 125 years of cigar-rolling prowess spanning back three generations to the heyday of Cuba, saying that the Aguilar family knows a thing or two about tobacco is an understatement. It may be difficult to stand out from the crowd, but this fine specimen does so....with ease.
Palo Prieto opens with a dazzling, visually flawless Ecuadorian Habano wrapper that’s positively bursting with hand-selected Nicaraguan Corojo and Criollo long-fillers, all wrapped up in a Dominican Corojo binder. The rich and creamy core is complemented by feisty notes of leather and spices. So like I was telling my friend, the small-batch glory days are still in full swing, and this is one boutique blend that won’t get lost in the sauce.
