I believe Chopin is Belvedere's potato cousin, but Lukasowa (so I was told by a native) is bottled on the other side of the same distillery.

been drinking some Sobieski Vodka, sometimes on the rocks, sometimes with fever tree tonic.
not normally neat, but when I do I detect a slight sweetness. It isn't the worst neat either.

Ok after trying a dozen or so gins all mixed as g&t's...........it doesn't make a difference.I'll stick with Burnett's and Heaven Hill London Dry's for the coin.

As for vodkas the only difference I can find is in the rye blends..........I get a nice minty peppery flavor.Even in v&t's I get it.Sobieski has become a favorite while my everyday stuff is Burnett's and Heaven Hill.Think I'll go make me Vodka tonic

no need to overspend on vodka or gin if mixing, just like bourbons.

I happen to like Belvedere enough to sip it neat right out of the freezer, or with just a hint of vermouth in a martini, but for mixing and on the rocks, for short money Sobieski is pretty good, as is Lukasowa for potato vodka....Pinnacle, Three Olives, anything on sale, dump in tonic and ice, no problem.

I have similar feelings about gin, would rather use a gin with a little bite in a g&t, better than a smooth gin like Sapphire.
Smooth works better in a martini.

if available, Haymans Old Tom gin works in both. Old Tom style is sweeter than other styles of gin and smooth enough to drink on the rocks, very good in a g&t too. about $25 for a 750 here when it can be found...just say the word.

G&t"s and V&T's are great Summer cocktails.

Last day in Vegas I went on a gin a tonic kick, started off with Sapphire and moved on to Hendricks at the airport. Like both of them but the Hendricks did provide a slightly different taste which was a nice change because I was getting it in before the airport. Probably get a bottle of Hendricks at home now that I have tried it.

Anyone try Zyr Vodka? Looks like it gets good reviews at a very good price but wanted to know if it was Martini worthy or just a mixer.

Frank, if you want an incredible Vodka try Hanger One Kaffir Lime. Certainly not for everyone and not a traditional Vodka by any means. It is distilled from wheat and Viognier grapes, and infused with Kaffir Lime. I don't know how many times distilled, but I would guess 3. Straight out of the freezer, undiluted it is very good. It does not use grape pomace, but rather whole grapes so it is not at all grappa or marc like.

have never had Hangar, have heard they make a few great ones (raspberry too), but I believe they began as part of St George distillery on the west coast. They make some highly regarded stuff, single malts, liquors etc., Hangar was sold off but still made by them.

In the Moscow Mule the ginger beer is of more significance than the vodka.Which Ginger Beer you dranking?I have access to Goslings,good stuff,and Stoli,haven't tried it yet they want $6 for a 4-pack........seems a little pricey to me.

Goslings. The Stoli is a bit spicier, but not worth the higher price point. Goslings is $6 a sick of 12 ounce cans.

Well I just mixed that Kentucky mule.Not bad but I love the flavor of bourbon,I love sipping EW 1783 neat.Just my opinion but bourbon,good bourbon,was meant to be drank neat.Vodka I love to mix,neat not so much.From now on my mule will be of the Moscow version.
