Where did the Derek Jeter thread go?
1. Author: ZRX1200Date: Wed, 1/22/2020, 1:24AM EST
Didn’t I see one?!!!

I HATE THE YANKEES.....

97.7% is ridiculous, again writers showing why they don’t deserve a vote. Jeter should have been unanimous.......Nolan Ryan should have been unanimous......Ken Griffey Jr should have been unanimous.....

Larry Freaking Walker?!! I like the guy but this shouldn’t be the Hall of Really Good. Some poor candidates this year.
2. Author: 8trackdiscoDate: Wed, 1/22/2020, 2:44AM EST
Yeah (begrudgingly). If there has to be a Yankee in the HOF from the last 25 years, it would need to be Jeter.

Whacked smart giving Morning after gift baskets to the ladies. Doing it right after doing it. Also predated the Metoo movement. He made the most of his time and talents. A great annoyance on the field. Especially to Red Sox fans.

Eh.........Jeter was a compiler....
He just played a long time....
Heck, wasn’t even the best shortstop on his team for a good long while....

Heh heh
Baseball writers..........some of them........the fat fuqs smoking Parodis and still using type writers, feel it’s their duty to make sure no one gets 100%

He wasn’t a big “stat” guy, he was a big “gamer” when the lights were brightest he always came through.

Pete only has Pete to blame.

Pete Rose should be in the HOF.
As a player.
Not as a manager.

Keep the ban from MLB. The HOF is a separate entity if I'm not mistaken.

For crying out loud.
We have wife beaters, racists and jay-walkers in the hall.
Get over your collective selves (aimed at the MLB Illuminati).

And Jeter sucks.
His defensive range was zero.
But he deserved 100%.
To suggest otherwise is foolish.

I think Bonds had enough to get in before his hat size went up a few sizes.
Geez, ya look at pics of pre-steroid/GH Bonds?
Barely recognize him...........ha!..............especially his jaw and forehead.

Leigh Steinberg had a good take on the steroid HOF topic -- Selig's in, let em all in

We used to watch Barry when he was an up and coming player, playing at the Triple A level for the Hawaii Islanders (...Pittsburgh Pirates affiliate...). Skinny as a whip, fast as lightning. You had to be a fool to not see his major league potential. Anyway, followed him throughout his Pirates career but lost track / interest when he went to SF. His transformation from Whippet Barry to Middle LB Bonds was definitely troubling and then to learn later about the head and feet size increase, you just knew something wasn’t right. Learned at lot from “Game of Shadows.”

Mariano Rivera remains the first and only player to receive 100% - did it last year.
He deserved it.

so did Babe Ruth, Ted Williams, Willie Mays, Joe D and on and on...

Steroids are different than gambling and yes he may have not gambled while playing only while coaching but I don’t believe anything Pete says. Steroids weren’t illegal in baseball until they were, GAMBLING HAS been an issue LONG before Charlie Hustle.

As far as steroids, they really need to put a separate room in the hall. Like it or not it IS a part of baseball history no matter how any individual feels in the subject. My personal opinion on steroids is a lot like man made global warming. Do I think it has an impact? Sure. But you know what.....they still have to hit the ball, and it’s the most difficult task in sports IMO. I think both steroids and HGH have had a BIGGER impact on players longevity and availability from injury than actually PUSHING a ball over the fence that wouldn’t have been a HR.

But arguments of false pretense and half truth ARE EXACTLY what is the cause (IMO) of people’s ability to challenge their own ideas openly.

No question that gambling is a bigger no-no than steroids. And for good reason.
I don't care if Pete is ever allowed to attend a game as a paying fan.
But when you go to Cooperstown and look for the player with the most hits, you either find him there or you ask for your money back.
Pete Rose is a shady guy. He's a lying douche. But his play on the field never wavered. I don't even care if he gambled while playing. He never took a play off in his life. It's what made him the best singles hitter for so long.

200 hits in a season is a big deal.
Only 2 players accomplished it last season.
None the year before.
And the four who did it in 2017 aren't the same who did it last year.

Consider accomplishing it 20 years in a row.

Do that and you'll still be 256 shy of Pete Rose.

Not in the hall?
Then the hall is a joke.

It is a travesty Pete is not in the hall. Being there is about what you accomplished in your career. Tail summed it up nicely.
