Give sellable stuff to your son? If he is staying in California or to a trusted neighbor to sell then send you the $$$ in Florida.

If you have anything ( pottery, blankets, baskets ) that are native American Indian they can be big $$$, old shoes and boots sell well at yard sales, if you donate stuff to Goodwill you'll get tax write-off ( better than dumpster donations which are zero$$), folding tables sell well to people who do flea mkts, yard furniture is usually aluminum .50 lb at recycling metal yard, RECORDS/LPS SELL WELL AT YARD SALES( DONT UNDER PRICE THEM)...

Wife and I got a lot of stuff packed up. Still haven't got the dumpster delivered and it was supposed to be here Friday.

Last time I did this they were late with it, too, so I kinda figured.

I watched the news this morning, apparently there’s massive protests on the freeway and activists are blocking traffic shouting “HELL NO MACS CAN’T GO!” and “WHEN CAN HE MOVE, NEVER”

I suggest the 1-40 route..........better scenery and we live just off US 287 which puts you right on I-20 to Florida.Believe me I-10 blows especially in La,Ms and Al.............will beat you to death.

Bought a new bed and was supposed to be delivered yesterday, it didn't show. Supposed to be delivered today. Didn't show.

It's coming via FedEx and two days ago it was in Connecticut now the tracking says it's in Nevada? How does the Franking thing get a 90 min away at the distribution center then two days later end up in Nevada? Maybe it was damaged and they had to resend another one (?)

Maybe I should PM Celtic so he can get to the bottom of this and straighten it out.

I'll also ask, on your behalf, if he can work on getting your dumpster delivered on time.

Hard to say. FedEx gave up on their slogan of If it absolutely, positively, has to be there overnight. They are likely going through a similar issue. For the longest time, all FedEx packages were routed through Memphis. You want to FedEx a package to a town 5 miles away- has to go to Memphis first.

Maybe that is still in place. The Nevada thing is still a head scratcher.

I think there is road construction along the way. Should probably plan for an alternate route that would bring you to New England. You could herf with us Massholes and then visit your old stomping grounds in RI.

Time is important, try to hit Houston during the middle of the day, AM/PM rush hour is not fun at all.

Get familiar with the Waze app for routing. Yes, there are many other apps and GPS etc, but Waze has user input on road hazards and police presence. It does take more current, so you want to keep your phone plugged into a USB port.

Waze is how someone was able to drive to Charlette, NC at more than 90 MPH and not receive a ticket. Even if you don't speed, Waze uses user-supplied data to route using local shortcuts and avoid traffic jams, something Google/Apple/GPS makers do not do.

But the truck has Nav and I have traffic on it.

Movers called to double check what I was moving and such. Will call 24-48 hours before the truck arrives.

Confirmed they'll be doing the packing, but the wife and I have packed, donated, sold or trashed a lot of stuff already.

You can't get there in 36hrs. You've got like half a dozen sleepovers on the way. Weeklong trip at best

I’ve made that run many, many times.

If you want to do it in four days I’d advise running south to San Diego and catching I-8 and taking it to near Casa Grande AZ. It will deadend into I-10.

Plan on staying in Lordsburg, NM your first night. There is a Hampton Inn and a Comfort Inn right off the Interstate.

On day two you want to get all the way to San Antionio. It’s about 9.5 hours away if you drive the speed limit. That way on the third day you’ll pass by Houston midday and avoid traffic. San Antonio to my house is about 7 hours.

On day four you finish up in Jacksonville. It’s right at 8 hours from my house to Jacksonville. You’ll also be going through the Mobile tunnel late morning to midday so you won’t have to worry about traffic.

Mom will be gone up to Virginia to visit my sister so you and Mrs. MACS can sleep in her bed. Or if you prefer there are 3 hotels within 2 miles of my house.

If you follow that itinerary you’ll avoid traffic for pretty much the entire route except in California. Stay near the speed limit on I-8 as CHP loves to hide on the side of overpasses and write tickets even though it’s one of the most desolate strips of interstate in the US.

Yes you can sleep in mom's bed ..........plus you'll need a chiropractor by this point on I-10,maybe mom has one on speed dial

I-10 in Louisiana is absolutely the worst roads in Murica hands down

I-10’s not any worse than I-20 or I-40. It’s more state related. Some states do a better job at keeping up the roads. Besides that stretch of I-20 between the LA / TX state line and the LA / MS state line is waaaay worse than the I-10 to I-12 back to I-10 route down south.

Also, I-59 south though MS isn’t exactly smooth either.
