As a Floridian, I have a major problem with:

1) any governor having the authority to do this, and
2) the use of state funds to pay for this.

I think Desantis should have used his campaign fund to pay for his charade. Wonder if we will get a refund...Think

But you're okay with Biden bussing and flying them to cities all over the US?

And Frank... The USA accepted immigrants who APPLIED for citizenship, and came over on boats. And they were properly vetted and even quarantined if necessary. Ellis Island ring a bell?

Allowing thousands to flood our country without proper documentation and vetting is beyond stupid. It's criminal.

And if the USBP is not allowed to do their job... the cartels control the border. You have a door on your house, right? You lock it at night? Or are you cool with anyone coming in whenever they feel like it?

It is exactly the same thing.

for the third time...both the Biden AND Trump administrations, by law, flew the separated children of illegals secretly for their safety...to place them with relatives already settled here or to shelters when the first choice was not possible.

This is not the same situation of what happened to legals being discussed in this thread.

Although I think the cost is one of the lesser items of importance here, I do wholeheartedly agree with you.
But I'm sure if he did use private funds, he'd be even more exposed to lawsuits since he'd be moving people outside the scope of the governor's seat.

Frank.
You keep saying "legal" immigrants.
Are we talking about the same group of people?
Because even NPR implies otherwise.

"NPR was able to interview three of the migrants late Wednesday. "They (the migrants) told us they had recently crossed the border in Texas and were staying at a shelter in San Antonio," NPR's Joel Rose said on Morning Edition.
...

NPR spoke with Yesica, a migrant who gave only her first name because of her undocumented immigration status. She said she was uncertain about her future."

What is a bigger burden on the state, sending one flight or having 50 people stay in Florida and be a continual drain on state funding?

Yeah it’s more ethical to segregate the brown people to boarder states, it’s only fair to the liberal enclaves to maintain their grip on virtue signaling.

legal not that they were citizens, but they crossed the border properly and were waiting processing prior to being lured by false promises of jobs, housing, and help with said processing.

One other thing, you know Martha's Vineyard better than I do. At the time of the unannounced arrival, wasn't the population pretty much down to the year-rounders...those people who are not celebrity zillionaires with discreet mansions and life styles? I understand out of towners pouncing on the rich and famous, but the wealthy are gone with the Summer.

Let's be fair Joe, I don't know how they are registered to vote, but most of those on the island after Labor Day probably make below the local median income. Coffee shop owners, teachers, landscapers...these were the people who went into their cupboards and pockets in an emergency, not the wealthy celebrity libs everyone loves to hate. There were no mansions available to house these people, maybe a few spare rooms, the Church, stuff like that. That's short term at best.

And the Venezuelans certainly seemed grateful for the instant improvement in their lives. The military base is a far better place for them.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) on Friday let the mask slip and said illegal aliens need to stay in Florida to pick crops.

Don’t ship the illegals to Martha’s Vineyard because they need to work on the farms in the south – so says Democrat Nancy Pelosi.

See NYC is looking to lease a cruise ship for the illegals.
Heard there is cooperation between New York, Texas and California. Finally, states are playing well with each other.

The alleged details work like this.

Migrants come to Texas.
Texas sends them to New York.
New York ships them off of the coast of California.
California gets an enhanced coral reef for disenfranchised fish when if the ship sinks.

Interesting.

It’s in other areas of the city like DuPont Circle, and some of these people are more like survivalists than homeless. They have multiple tents, furniture inside some of them, kiddie pools to wash clothes, clothes lines, grills, generators, mopeds, and on and on. Mayor Bozo, I mean Bowser cries about the few people that showed up on the buses but there’s many of these people laying around government building, getting high, harassing folks, and some being general nuisances and they’ve done nothing to help and/or clean up.

Washington D.C. at night time has always been questionable in the safety factor....

The only place I used to go was GEORGETOWN...
THAT WAS USUALLY PRETTY SAFE FROM 1978- 1999...
I HAVEN'T BEEN BACK SINCE THEN BUT 2-3 TIMES FOR QUICK VISITS OVERNIGHT FOR MUSEUM VISITS...
NO WEEK LONG STAYS LIKE BACK IN MY HEY DAY...
BACK THEN I'd crash at "safe houses" or friends huts on the cheap ...or sleep in my car in their driveways if the timing was wrong...

So much wrong with this.
1. They crossed the border, but not "properly". The majority were undocumented.
2. This is the bumper season. I was on the island the night they arrived, or maybe the day after. In Oak Bluffs. Had to wait half hour to sit at Johnny Seas (excellent btw), the line to Back Door Donuts had to be 45 minutes. I don't know their normal crowds, but this was a thursday night.
3. Short term? It was one night and a half. Then ship 'em out! With armed guardsmen herding them onto busses and onto the ferry and into a military base. Not my idea of a romantic evening. YMMV.
4. Far better? Half of them have already left the base. Where do you get your intel? Literally half are gone. Some "relocated". But to where, no one will say. Assuming they know.

But I was kidding. The people on MV would have done their best. I know that.
But look at the hoopla over 50 people.

You have a problem with him because he has a R behind his name. Not in anything he has ever done.

Post after post you take runs at him. The only time I've ever seen you sidestep is when I've pointed out how the state dodged a bullet by electing him instead of Obama's handpicked (ran all over the daughter of a former Florida state Governor and Senator as well as a considered pick for Clinton's VP! They selected Gore because he was stupid!) federally indicted Mayor of Tallahassee that infamously was caught weeks later in a hotel with male prostitutes and drugs...full blotto when authorities enter the room!

DeSantis kept the state open from the senseless Covid mandates. The Biden regime wanted to force them down all states and all people by ripping away Constitutional and God given rights with agencies never designed to wield the power they lorded over everyone. All the while most just nodded their masked up faces in total compliance and agreement to being a willing participant in the control grab forced upon us. Save grandma, flatten the curve, and my favorite ad nauseum...Follow the Science. NONE of it worked.
