Seems like some of the larger ones I believe they just toss extra random filler to make it that size. The way the flavors are rolling off this one it seems they actually used the thicker size to create a nice blend. Preciate it. Good stick

Nobody's going to be right by the end of this. By post 500 the count was low by 35 smokes. Need to go back to actual work now. I should have this wrapped up in 1-3yrs
55728. Author: LeeBotDate: Wed, 1/19/2022, 2:04PM EST
We could divide the work.

Someone counts posts 1-5000 (SOB), someone else counts posts 5001-10,000 etc.

Then add/subtract. For example, if SOB finds the count down by 100, but the second person finds it up by 40, then we know that 60 should be deducted from whatever the third tranch comes up with. It would distribute the labor, and I'm willing to do one 1001-5000 if some other people jump in, and no one expects an answer soon.

Of course all of this assumes that we can each count up to 5000 without screwing up, which is possible but very unlikely.

Okay, so I ventured into the Danger Zone (…aka “math”…) and ran some numbers.

This thread has been running for about 11-1/2 years. IF (…and that’s a BIG IF…) everyone religiously had kept posting their smokes from the time they started posting their smokes, we’d be done by now.

How’d I figgah that out? Well, in 11-1/2 years, we needed to average a little less than 86,957 cigars a year. That equates to 7,246 smokes a month or roughly 242 stogies a day. There have been well over 242 smokers that have posted so if all of those franking slackers had kept on smoking and kept on posting, we probably would be at 2,000,000 cigars by now.

Of course I realize that some guys and gals may no longer be with us (RIP) and some have stopped smoking for various reasons but c’mon people, you smoke, you post. Case in point, Zody (…not picking on you David, just using you as an example…). I mean, despite not posting everyday or everytime he sparked one up, he’d at least list the amalgamated smokes (…in alphabetical order too!…). And each of Smokestack Chimney Zody’s posts averaged around 100 cigars! That’s at least 1,200 a year or 14,400 a year! I'm sure there are other BOTL / SOTL that smoked multiple cigars a day but don't / haven't posted up.

Well, enuff bandwidth but you guys get the picture, right?

Not a bad idea although I would suggest breaking it up into smaller increments so that it’s not as daunting (…and easier to retrace missteps…). Depending on the number of “Correction Counting Volunteers”, we could go as little as 1,000 to 2,000.

I'm down with a little division of labor.

Currently finished pg 20 post #1000. "Correct" count is 1184. Posted count is 41 less.

Lots of non numbered postings early on, and random jump by 200 in posted 700ish range. We haven't been screwing up. We've been carrying on a long established Cbid tradition

Right.

I see your point BUT we can technically only go on actual posts and considering in 11.5 years we've only made ~ 7% of the way then it will take a VERY long time unless participation increases significantly. Herfing

I'm going to count (probably poorly) posts 5000 - 6000 to give SOB plenty of room to keep going.

You’re absolutely correct. I was just lambasting the frankers that have slacked off and put us in this dire situation. Iffin’ they had any shred of decency, they’d come back and list all their past smokes!

And from the early reports from Dan, kinda lookin’ like we’re gonna be farther away from the target million. d'oh!

I'm shaky when it comes to accuracy with numbers, but it could take nearly 160 years to get to 1,000,000, if we continue at this pace, of roughly 70,000 cigars smoked and listed here every 12 years...

pretty sure our great great great great great great great grand kids will have lost interest by then...

but if we make it mandatory that CBid members post up what they're smoking, we may hasten the demise of our great community...

the CBid community forum is greater than an accurate and complete count of what a few dedicated azzhats are smokin...but we are an elite and exclusive club within the club...all hail to the whatcha smokin azzhats!!!
55750. Author: SunoverbeachDate: Thu, 1/20/2022, 7:52PM EST
Other way around. The number posted in the thread is low compared to the "correct" count. Granted it's a little early to call it a pattern, but if the trend holds, we could gain a couple thousand smokes

FYI I keep calling it "correct" because it's a near certainty I'll have some errors in this process. I do think it will be a more accurate assessment upon completion though
