In digging in the dirt

Is a classic...

Along with...

BIKO

And

Turn it on again

Red rain

Don't give up

In your eyes...

Remember the schpiel by :

Salisbury Hill is one of my favs from him. Introspective song that hits me in many ways of looking inward at myself.

Gabriel has said of the song's meaning, "It's about being prepared to lose what you have for what you might get ... It's about letting go."

Phil Collins... Sussudio... On top of the top 10 stoopid songs...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r0qBaBb1Y-U

Collins has said that he "improvised" the lyric. Collins was just playing around with a drum machine, and the lyric "su-sussudio" was what came out of his mouth. "So I kinda knew I had to find something else for that word, then I went back and tried to find another word that scanned as well as 'sussudio,' and I couldn't find one, so I went back to 'sussudio'"

WTF? need I say more?

Always loved the Gabriel led version of Genesis much more than the Phil. It's like Dave vs Sammy to me. One is the originator and the other is a squat to piss limp-wristed version of the latter. At least Genesis made some songs with Phil you could listen to over and over.

Jonsey...you forgot:

"Shaking The Tree"

"Shock The Monkey"

"Here Comes The Flood"

"I Have The Touch"

"Heroes"...magnificent remake of Bowie's masterpiece

I do like "In the Air Tonight." Collins established a signature fingerprint drum riff/style (or whatever you call it) that was used in many songs and did some studio drumming for many 80's hits.

Tom Jones: No One Is To Blame... you can hear Collins' drums kick in around 1:40. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1FxVecAGmgQ. Very similar to In the Air.

This guy does a good example of the well known drum fill (around 3:00 mark). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t8tnaZw-uTE

I like Genesis with either Peter or Phil. Though Peter Gabriel's songs are far far better. The first time I seriously listened to the lyrics of Salisbury Hill I was moved to tears.

I wouldn't go as far as moved to tears but it's an impactful song, at least for me. There are many songs that hit home for me on the theme of rebooting life, letting the past be the past and move forward.
