Dang, you work quick. I believe the bands are in the envelope!

You nailed the order (if I remember correctly)!

#1 was the Crown Heads Four Kicks Capa Especial (mid)
#2 was the Ashton VSG (premium)
#3 was the Punch Signature (yard)

Sorry the punch was the worst yet, I feel like punch usually puts out stuff that is pretty good for the price point. I dont remember hating that Punch signature that much

I may have tossed the envelope with the box.

Thank you sir. And thank you for reminding me that yes, I do in fact HATE general/altadis mass market cigars. Occasionally I think about how popular they are, and how at one time I did happily hand over $10 for one maybe I should give em a try.

DED’s box dropped! Inside included:

An ode to warped:
- La Colmena Black Honey (loved)
- La Colmena 10th anniversary (on my wanted list)
- Isla Del Cocodrilo (always happy to burn another, I don’t think I’ve had this vitola)
- Futuro (nh)
- Flor de Valle (I can never identify the exact name of these, moon sky garden or whatever)

Along with 3 blind smokes. I’m gonna let these rest for a week and I’ll start them afterward.

Thanks DED!

Yeah went with Tasty cake but then realized you're probably in Tasty cake country. I made the Mead with both local to me honey and merlot grapes, aged with oak. Curious to know what you think.

Tasy cakes are for sure hing in my area but i am not complaining... i tend to not buy them as i am a fat guy that needs to lose some wight due to my medical condition but... if i didnt buy them then the calories dont count right?

You made the Mead? now i am REALLY looking forward to cracking it open! thanks for that and for the explination of how it was made.

will be trying the first of the 3 starting tomorrow. will try to do all three in the next week as i have started to limit my smoking a bit so what was a 5 cigar week is now closer to 1-2 a week when felling up to it.

Jumping into the 3 mystery cigars from Jgraz. first impressions of the 3 based on sniff, apperence, feel.

pre inspection ranking - 1 or 2 could be the premium with 3 being my guess as the yard gar but will def reeavulate upon smoking all three.

1} 5.5inch, aprox 45 ring guage, Pig Tail cap with a mostly closed foot. lighter brown then a maduro maby habano with a paperbag texture to it. smell is sweet cocoa pre light. hard tight pack
2} 6inch aprox 55 RG, large double cap, supple, oily small tooth on the wrapper, maduro is my initial thought. slight peper on the nose
3} 6.5inch 50 RG, thin wrapper with slight crack at foot. think proment veins, prob also maduro,

After lighting number 1 - writing as a smoke it so running comentary...
First impression, sweet, nutty and a little pepper on the back of thr throat and retro but not a ton. i may have over toasted a bit with my quad torch. perfect draw, not 2 tight like on a lot of coronas with a tight pack. dry smoke which adds to the leathery taste/mouth feel. good smoke output but not like a DE cigar.
about an inch in, perfect burn, perfect draw, slight leather to it and the pepper is gone. slight coffee but that me be lingering from my mornng cup.
2 inches in Nuttyness is actaully more of a light wood flavor, leather and just a touch of peper on the retro. coffee is staying with it so i do thing it is the cigar and not the cup from this morning.

halff way point. everything is pretty much the same except it picked up a bit of cream on the finish, peper, leather, wood all remain. ash comes off in nice 1 inch peieces
final third, no change except the pepper kicked up a notch on the retro. while this has lots of flavor it stays pretty consistnat past that first third so not much transition. full body for sure. not a lot of nic hits but you can feel it is trying in that regard.Burn/construction stayed perfect the whole way. solid in my opion that it is a habano wrapper, prob nicaraguan.

60 minute total burn time when i stopped with about an inch remaining as it was getting pretty warm. i was smoking a bit faster then usual though as i was trying to get every note i could and being concious to not require a relight as i tend to smoke very slowly.

everything about this screams AJ. i feel like i have had this before but could just be becasue all the AJ stuff is similer to each other.

i dont beleive this is the premium so either mid or yard but will reevaluate once i smoke the other 2. will try to do number 2 tommorow afternoon. if this is in fact the yard gar then i can not wait for the other 2, its nice to go into these with no preconcived notion based on brand/price.

Started at #1 from DanM.
Approximately 6.5 x 42. Ill call this a Habano wrapper.
Not much smell from the wrapper, cut got me a little of what I'll call sweet tobacco. Went with a straight cut as I believe Dan does the same so I want to get as close to his experience as possible.
1st third:
Light pepper deep in the sinuses. Touch of cinnamon a a little bit of creaminess as well. Burn was razor sharp.

2nd third:
Ill say it's cedar coming through now. Sweetness The pepper has changed. Still peppercorn, but not black, it's sharper more upfront in the nose. Kind of reminds me of green peppercorn. Little salty and nutty as well. Kind of reminds me of a Luciano Dreamer I had a few days back, but everything so far is sharper and more up front. The retro pepper lingers for a while. Still a touch of sweetness, but it fades as I close of this third. Burn is still perfect.

Final third:
Sweetness is gone, pepper everywhere, and the sharpness ranges from intense to light. Getting some dark bitter chocolate notes too.
As it closes out there is some charred meat tones coming in.

Total was just under an hour. Burn and construction were as close to perfect as I could possibly want. I really liked this and want more of it. If I had to speculate I'd call this mid.......for now

Blind #2 from Danm
Approximately 5.5" x 44
Dark brown wrapper with no noticeable smell. Straight cut with no smell as well, cold draw gets me nothing.

1st third:
At light up there is a big blast of pepper that actually caught me off guard. First few draws are more of the same, but then starts to fade. Picked up a bit of what I call mustiness. I have come across it from time to time in various cigars.

2nd third:
By the start of this 1/3 the pepper has completely vanished as has the mustiness. Towards end of this third starts to get a touch woody, maybe cedar. Touches of light pepper comes and goes. Not much else.

Final third:
Subtle toast notes creeping in but mostly just a burning paper taste that lingers. Some pepper in the back of my throat and an all around blah taste. As it comes to a close pepper in retro is starting to build up, as does the woody notes, but not much else is happening. I do like the building pepper though. I'll call this the best third.

All in all it wasn't bad, but just not a lot happening. I'd say about half of the cigar was just flavorless or muted at best. Burn time is just over an hour. Burn & construction were perfect.
My initial guess is this is the yard gar.

Blind #3 from Danm
Approximately 5 x 46 Corona. Medium brown.
Light cinnamon from wrapper, straight cut gets more of the same with some light coffee. Cold draw same.

1st third:
Right out of the gate chile pepper and some spices I can't quite place. Seems like this wants to be puffed on to keep things moving. Gonna be a quick smoke. Cinnamon picks up with a touch of vanilla maybe.

2nd third:
More of the same but with some creaminess and milk chocolate. Still some spices I can't quite place. Trying to slow it down some, but waiting too long means I need to draw a few times to get a good mouthful of smoke. Burn line it a touch wavy. Pepper has receded some. But there is some burn deep in the back of my sinuses.

Final third:
Touch metallic, but not in a bad way. Chile pepper picking up. Also some familiar baking spices, cloves maybe or allspice. Still creamy with some black coffee notes. Small void in dead center came up, had to do a small correction. Burning a bit slower now. Picking up something floral now as well. Metallic taste is gone and pepper has ramped up now hitting hard in the back of the throat.

Loved this one. Brought it right to the nub and wanted more. Something is familiar about it. I really think this is a Warped cigar, but I also think this is the premium as well.

Final choices:
I'm going with my original choices I made as I smoked each.
#1 - Mid
#2 - Yard
#3 - Premium....Warped?

Cigar #2 paired with “He Who Slumbers” whiskey barrel aged Junmai sake

Either a Connie or a Habano (I can never tell) robusto. Went with the cigar #2 first because I’m a bit strapped for time for a smoke.

First 1/3: a whole lot of smoke production, but no major flavors stand out. Hint of brown sugar and cedar. Maybe some baking spices on the retro. So far this is a big ol air ball. Not disliking it by any means, but hoping some flavors change or strengthen soon.

Second 1/3: the second third strengthened flavors a bit. Cedar is more upfront and the brown sugar has dropped off. I’m thinking there’s some sort of floral note on the retro (which I’ve never gotten on a retro before). Nonetheless, the flavors are still very mild. I had to correct the burn once, because the stick began to canoe.

Third 1/3: cedar is still the predominant flavor. There’s more spice in the final third, I have a hard time telling apart spices. Either red pepper or baking spices. Either way, they are a welcome change of pace. This third pairs quite nicely with my sake, which gives it some points in my book.

Conclusion: As long as this isn’t a CC, I’m pretty confident this is either a mid tier or a yard gar given the lack of flavor and the minor construction issues. The beginning was pleasant, and it got more interesting at the very end, but feels overall, doesn’t seem like a premium.

Depending on the price, I might buy it. Not a bad mild smoke at all.

So there's a little shenanigans here and the price I paid aside, you nailed it 1 mid 2 yard 3 premium.

With prices factored in, #1 cost me $2 and change, #2 cost about $7 and #3 about $13.

So do with that as you will, I don't know the real world price on #1 but my personal rankings of those cigars is what you wrote. And #3 is a Warped.

My spreadsheet notes on the three:
1,) Spicy start halfway it's rich and sweet, salted buttery caramel and still carrying a good spice blend on retro
2.) Pretzels with heavy spice on retro but flavors gave up by halfway to a generic burning tobacco probly wet and young
3.) Fantastic sweet wood, a lil nutty, dry but not astringent, light spices. This may be the closest a NC has tasted like a CC

1.) Jas Sum Kral Red Knight
2.) ETB made Florida Man Miami
3.) Warped Don Reynaldo

Great job and your descriptions are pretty in line with my experiences as well. I hope that the FM Miami improves with time, those were delivered 12/26/24.

Thank you again. Dan for the great selection and for setting this up.
