March 31st – Turning rough chunks of tree into boards is a bit of work. Here are the two sides ready for glue up. The edges were surfaced on my antique jointer - it’s a relic I got for next to nothing. They will go together with some water resistant glue and the help of a few biscuits – my plate jointer is a super cheapy from Harbor Tools – it makes the Devil’s own noise when you use it.

Please note the high quality portable work bench. The top is genuine walnut vinyl veneer.

I love the smell of freshly surfaced walnut.

What are you going to use as a finish?

Thanks,
I’m doing some samples with the finish and testing some fillers. Looks like finish will be clear lacquer with a base coat of linseed oil. Haven’t decided whether to use a filler or not. There won’t be any stains or dyes on the walnut though . . .
