May 16th – After a month of interruptions and other “priorities”, I’m back at it. The most difficult part is simply finding the time.

(Lower left) Routed out the inset for the top glass and cut the glass to fit. Good thing I checked the fit – the corners needed to have a further conversation with Mr. Chisel. Slats of scrap will be used along with some brad nails to hold in the glass from the inside.

(Upper Right) In case anyone is curious as to what half blind dove tails look like unassembled.

(Center) Glued up at last. These long, tight dove tail joints have to be cut dead nuts, balls on accurate in depth, alignment and tightness. I have no such skills, so next comes a visit Professor Belt Sander – to smooth things over. For those of you who are of the bench plane school of thought, “never use skill where you can use power tools”.

Next week on This Old Humidor, we change a rough board of walnut into a door.

Nice Brew!!! Always loved the dovetails in construction. Pain in the ass, even with a good jig, but near impossible without one. Really makes one appreciate some of the craftsmanship that was done in the late 1800's without the jigs and power.

Looking forward to watching this come together. Keep posting!!!
