July 18th – With no great success re-sawing the cedar on the table saw and finishing with a hand saw, it was time to fix the ageing Buffalo band saw.

Four hours later, Re-sawing was still slow, so I pre-cut the boards on the table saw and finished them on the band saw. Once the set up was complete, it didn’t even take five minutes.

A quick pass through the planer and the boards are all a shinny 3/8” thick.

Once the casing is lacquered and cured, the door goes on and I’ll line it with cedar. I’m looking forward to making the door seal work with cedar alone (it I can).

Ah, I am sooo jealous. I miss all my woodworking stuff. Had a big Delta with a collection system and a Biessmier (sp?). Had a Buffalo drill press and band saw. Had is the operative word. :( Had all the other stuff too, all in a 24' x 80' shop. Alas, years gone by......

Looking good! Keep posting updates!

that's why I just pay for the pre-cut lumber. LOL

I like your rip fence on the band saw.

Thanks for posting the updates. I really enjoy watching the process come together.

Brew, unfortunately it was a conscious decision to sell everything. I wanted to start a new business and needed the shop space for the business. It was not wood working related at all. Of course I didn't get half of what everything was worth either. That was in 1988. I had been doing wood for about 6 years at that point. Used to go to all the wood shows at the fairgrounds, etc..

I guess the good news (or maybe not) is that the business I started in 1989 is still running today. LOL, it's running S L O W but it's still alive. I think I would close the doors if I didn't have some debt that I am working on paying off. I am really read to not have it anymore and in today's economy, it's not worth anything.
