LGC Serie R question

Was just traded a few of these for some of my artwork...question (for more veteran smokers of LGCs) is this:

Do they normally have a second gold and black band around the foot?

The others I've seen didn't have the band. I just didn't know what the story was with it! Something new? Something old? Thought someone else might.

Thanks!

I am not as experienced as many others here, but the La Gloria Cubana R's I've had - maduros purchased from the local B&M - did not have any bands on the foot.

PS - fan of your work.

Does the band on top have the words "Limitada 2002" or some other date? It could be a LGC Series R Limitada..........If so, then your trading partner treated you VERY well indeed............Applause

Negative. Standard everything but the second band. I uploaded a pic...waiting approval. I'll post a link here once it's posted.

Those are the "new" LGC Serie R... think in no 3 and seen another number. So, I guess new blend, perhaps ran out of some the other leaves? Or maybe just new marketing?

Turns out (from a unnamed source at General Cigar)

"that's a relatively new thing. It was more or less an effort to prevent foot damage."
