This is an occasion which calls for the finest.

ISOM
Montecristo No. 2 or Partagas Serie D No 4 or the spectacular RyJ Robisto EL

Non-ISOM
PAM 1964 Serie Torpedo or Imperial

Congrats on choosing fantastic parents !!!

your in texas right, don't even start talking about apartments not being cheap!! I live in SF, if you pay under a $1,000 a month for just rent your doing well!! Then add on $200 for parking!!

drop me a line at docrks at army dotcom re your quest for the No 2 Monte. Tell Mom & Dad if they don't spring for this as well - the house will be forever doomed - I'm sure they wouldn't want that !!!!

To ensure REALLY GOOD LUCK - you should also send one to the 1st 10 "Brothers of the Leaf" who have responded to your posting....

The day I closed on my house, just a month and a half ago, I lit up some of my best. Opus X, PAM, Cuban Monte #4 and a Cuban Partagas EL Series D No.3. Go for the best you've got, this is what you've been saving them for.

In a year or so take a home equity loan and buy a duplex or larger income property.Unless your parents did more than put a down payment into your house,in which case get a new first mortgage and reinvest in more real property.Keep reinvesting and paying down the mortgages.Keep your properties in top shape and be very selective, thoroughly checking tenants' references and credit.Personally,I won't rent to students.

But my point is your parents will be real happy and impressed if you use your house like a tool.Do your best work, they've given you more than a house.

P.S. I live in a former church.A bit hard to finance, not a lot of demand for them, you can get lots of square footage for your bucks.Often they have large lots and can easily be converted to multi-units.

Ken9810 says " ... I live in a former church"

Years ago when I lived in Sun Valley, Idaho, there was a bar that was in a former church ... the former pulpit was the bandstand and some of the former pews were still there along the back wall, for seating at some of the tables ... that was pretty interesting, but to LIVE in one? ... I'd imagine the "living room" is a bit larger than in your typical tract home, huh?

Jordo

You are getting off to the right kind of start. Since you are at Texa A & M are you in the military program? If so, what are you going to do?

Now, smoke the LaGloria Serie R.............gret cigar.

Good luck and congratulations.

Ken is a man after my own heart. Investment properties are great as long as you're willing to put a little effort into your investments.

Congrats on your first house.

yeah, so i went and bought a monte #2, so thats definitely gettin smoked, ill think about the equity loans after about a year, need to get settled in and a lil further in school before i start focusing on that...
and no, im not in the corps at A&M, i have a great deal of respect for military schools but A&M is not one and the corps really serves no purpose any more....
just to answer the question

thanks for the suggestions

"I'm a 19 year old sophmore at Texas A&M and i enjoy a good smoke about once a week.....being a college kid my funds are obviously pretty tight.....so far 5 vegas is the best bargain i have found....anyone have any suggestions for relatively inexpensive cigars that would be considered a good smoke?"
My man, you have some explaining to do!
The end of your first year?!?!?! Sophmore=2nd
Parents buying you house, but you are a "poor" college student! My guess is that parents that buy houses for children also provide plenty of fun money as well.

Jordo, a little advise: Don't tell people mommy and daddy are buying me house......where I come from that is frowned upon.......POOR COLLEGE STUDENT! BS!

I do believe we may have a scam-artist here!

what you have to realize is this.....I myself am poor, i dont have much money...
my parents obviously will have more buying power than i do...but they do not buy me cigars....thats my deal, if i wanna smoke then i pay for it....the house is working like this....we buy it and a couple of my friends live with me and they pay rent, miraculously the rent they pay will equal the monthly payments on the house....so that way we dont pay anything in the long run....
and as for the sophmore and first year thing, i came in with 16 hours, took 14 my first semester and am taking 16 this semester, at last count 30 hours made you a sophmore, which i had at the end of last semester, but this is my first year at school....

got anything else i can answer for you?

bigjordo, what you may perceive as hostility may in fact be jealousy... :-) when I was 22 I was selling shoes at the mall! Don't worry about getting a good start!! Good for you, I hope you're the next Bill Gates :-)
