For the last several days, I've seen a repeated message on the news. It goes something like this, "WAAAAAAAAAAA WAAAAAAAA WAAAAAAAA" and it's coming from the Hollywood left... What's the deal? This isn't McCarthy? They can say and do whatever the xxxx they want. All that's being done is it's being "reported", you know, they report, we decide? So people (hopefully LOTS OF PEOPLE) are deciding and voting with their dollars. If they think certain "stars" are a bunch of pinko whining liberal tree huggers, they don't have to pay their bills by soaking up their crap and saying "yum yum" and oh by the way, say whatever you want whenever you want, because you're just soooo talented, I don't care if you embarrass the US, I just love you. MMMM kiss kiss kiss kiss. Give me a break! No one is telling these people they can't speak their mind. In fact, I want more of them to make even bigger a$$es of themselves. I love it!! It helps me immensely with my entertainment "CHOICES!!!" after all? aren't they "pro choice?"

Yes yes yes, I cheated and had a few a day early...

why don't you both read what he said at the national press corp dinner before you draw conclusions about people based on 20 second sound bites.

Actors do not have opinions. I choose to ignore all actors who voice opinions on anything outside of themselves.

Understand...actors are people who have spent their lives dedicated to pretending they are someone else. Look at people like William Shatner, Michael Douglas, Sally Struthers etc. They have spent so much time not being themselves, pretending to be someone and something they aren't, they have lost their own identities. And they have been locked into a character personality.

Pay attention to how they talk. They are always playing one of their characters or a mishmash of their characters.

Robert Blake is a fine example of someone who was lost in his craft. He thought he would get away with murder because he was Baretta. He thought the police would show him professional courtesy and treat him different. He thought he could create the perfect crime..since he was a "detective" for so long.

Listen to Charlie/Martin Sheen. Mr tough guys. Very passionate but very plastic in their character. I think Emilio is the closest thing to a "regular guy" than the rest of the family.

Don Johnson still dresses like Sonny. Sly Stallone thinks he is everyone he has ever played and draws a character out of his box whenever the situation requires is.

Just my two cents. I think you have to live outside the insulation of money and fame to be able to have atrue grasp of the real world. When is the last time one of the aforementioned had to decide between paying off the entire power bill, or paying off a credit card.

Marriage and fidelity is a lost concept with most of them. Children are raised by nannies....dogs are fed by a handler. Nails are cut by a manicurist. Body toned by a personal trailer.

Certainly isn't my world.

"actors are people who have spent their lives dedicated to pretending they are someone else"

of course they do, but you forgot to mention reagen who played president for 8 years, almost as long as danny devito played a cab driver dispatcher but not as long as susan lucce has been playing whatever her role is on some soap opera.

i no longer have the refrences to some of his speeches when he went off the written speech and drifted into a part he had played in a movie. remember he never was in the military.

I saw Tim R. "whining" and referring to FNC as "19th Century Fox" and bemoaning the papers for draging his good name through the mud. What I didn't hear was him disputing anything they reported... OH HELL!! YOU'RE OUTING ME FOR THE LEFTIST I AM!! AND THAT MAY AFFECT MY POPULARITY!! Some of us have principals which would not allow us to look past these peoples views to put money in their pockets to support their publich bashing of the US...

Robby - I never said I agree with them, I said that I don't care about them. I choose not to loose sleep over their lives, words or actions; I just use them for entertainment.

Who's whining Robby? It sounds like the righties are whining more than anyone else...

And since I go to 1 movie a year, rent maybe 3 movies a year, and watch a 100 or so a year on cable, I'm not too worried about giving them money... Since I work for a cable company I get free full boat cable with all the movie channels, no need to waste money at the theatre.

Oh man I finally got it!!!!

The first amendment is fine if you critisize (sp) the Government, but if us ordinary people want to use the same right to speak out against them then thats WRONG?

Come on people wise up!! If I want to call the protestors "Traitors" then thats my rights!!! and if they want to call me a "warmonger" then they have the right to do that to. It's all tit-for-tat.

If I decide not to give them my money because I don't like their views, to me its the same as not giving them money because I don't like their acting!!!

Bottom line: IF you open your mouth and speak your mind, then you can suffer or prosper depending on how people view you.

P.S.- the posted article sounds like a bunch of BS!! He screwed up and now he's whining about how he's being mistreated. Tough $h!t!!!

Think before you speak.

That's my opinion and also my right to say so!! Go ahead and give me crap about it, but I'm still going to be right because it's MY OPINION.

Later,

Mike

YEAH! THINK BEFORE YOU SPEAK!! ER ahem, never mind...

Seriously though, the one's whining are the Hollywood left (redundant?). I've seen them being interviewed and they are WHINING! Have you watched the news Chris? Or is this an Ostrich approach to those you disagree with? If so, you may want to try the sand as opposed to where it appears your head has been stuck =:-o

You're both whining(left and right), and I can tune them out, but I can't make these stupid threads disappear! That's my point, BFD they're whining, BFD you don't like it, the media just doesn't have anything else to spoonfeed to the US public since there's no more war coverage. I never said anyone didn't have a legal right to complain, I just said I'm sick of hearing it!

I guess that's the reason I don't see any merit in getting a head of steam over their frivolous comments, they have no affect on me or my life. Whereas GWBs comments, actions and stances do have a direct effect on everyone.

I just don't see why you let it bug you so much...

Chris

You claim to be an independent. I dont buy that anymore. You are a left winger, with some exceptions.

I am a right winger all the way for the most part, and almost always disagree with your points of view. So dont say you are an independent cause you arent.

If 75% or more of what you believe in, lines right up with a particular party, then I feel that you are pretty much in that party.

I feel that you are more than 75% aligned with democratic viewpoints.

If you notice who you debate with most, the majority of those folks are known conservatives.

Just my observation.

Mag - Have we debated every possible subject? No, probably because we agree on some things so we don't need to debate. I am independent, even if I may lean to the left more than the right, I still choose not to associate myself with either party.

Robby - I voted for Gore, but if McCain or Powell would have gotten the GOP nod then I would have voted for them over Gore. What does that have to do with this thread?

There’s this ventriloquist who wanders in to an Indian village. He thinks it would be fun to ply his trade on the locals so he walks up to the Chief and turns to the Chief’s horse and says, tell me, what is it like to be the Chief’s horse? The Chief’s horse says, oh it’s a great honor! I get to wear the finest war paint, and lead the charge, I have all the mare’s I want, it’s great!

The Chief looks at the ventriloquist and says, that’s amazing! Can you do that again? The ventriloquist says, sure! He walks over to the Chief’s dog and says, tell me, what’s it like to be the Chief’s dog? The dog says, oh it’s great! I get the biggest buffalo bones! I get all the bitches I want! I love it! It’s a great honor!

The ventriloquist is now on a roll, so he turns to the Chief’s flock and says, what’s it like to be the Chief’s sheep? Before he could get another word out, the Chief jumps up and yells SHEEP LIE! SHEEP LIE! Well cwilhelmi LIE!

Chris,
Don't worry, nobody wants to be associated with the democrats.
And nobody wants to be associated with "liberals".
Even the democratic liberals don't like it when they are called that.

Although I view your known (posted) opinions to be on the "moderate side of liberal" vs "on the left side of moderate" as you claim, that's OK.
I see you debate more right wingers only because this board is heavily slanted in that direction.

And for the record, McCain is democrat. He just doesn't know it.

Sorry, I think I made it wide with irrational
exuberance and punctuation...

I hope no one is offended by this, but personally,
I've always referred to "independents" as
Democrats with no ba!!s... I have more respect for
those with liberal views who actually stand up and
are counted as libs. I still don't agree with them,
but they have convictions. I had convictions, but
they were expunged...

No ba!!s, no offence...

Robby - I think people who say you either have to be a democrat or a republican have no brains. No offense but it seems like intellectual laziness and weakness to just agree with everything a party says even if you might not. Since I don't agree with either party enough to join them I'm independent, and I really don't care whether or not you like it.

Good point, I'm an independent too.

I voted for Regan, Regan, Bush, Bush, Dole, Bush.

But I'm not a republican, I’ve just vote republican...
To actually call me a republican just because I’ve voted
republican would be intellectually vapid…

I Own Guns.

I Make too much money and like lower taxes because I think they
stimulate the economy.

I Only have 1 kid after planning for him.

I Support the military.

I Don't believe the government does a very
good job educating our children.

I Am a Christian.

I Believe people should be judged based on the
content of their character and quotas are immoral.

I Think the caribou can deal with a pipeline.

I Believe in adoption over other less savory options.

But I'm not a republican, I'm an Independent...
You buyin any of this? I said it, so it must be true Right?
I wouldn’t tell you I was an Independent if it wasn’t true, would I?
(hair lip)

I'm not a republican, or even a conservative,
I'm an independent. I have you fooled now right?
You're right where I want you. Watch the watch...
You're getting sleeeeepy.

Robby - The funny thing is I agree on most of the stuff you mentioned, so does that make me a republican now??

The only things I feel differently on from your list are as follows...

I'm not Christian

I believe in adoption for myself, but I'm pro-choice so that others can choose for themselves.

I didn't vote for the same people.

Some things you did't mention that we probably agree on are..

I think the environmetal lobby is more anti-corporation than they are pro-earth. Especially since most of them make up problems to protest against, instead of having actual data.

I think the government has too much power over our personal lives and our businesses.

Like I said I'm independent, for some reason you can't accept that, but I don't really care anymore...

At the end of the day the issues are most important to me, the categorization doesn't mean much.

hehehe, hey! you're catching on!

So I'll take that as,

1. Yes I voted for Clinton (probably both times!)
2. And Yes, I voted for Gore

But I'm Independent, really I am.

Did you know, on a sub, if you wet the bed, that won't get you
thrown off the boat, but if you wet the bed and THEN
hide the sheets, they'll toss you off in a heartbeat...

Well alrighty then! We've established that;

1. You're NOT a Democrat or even a liberal.
2. You did vote for Gore.
3. You did vote for Clinton.
4. You'll vote for whoever runs against Bush in 04
and will even stoop so low as to vote for Dashole or
Kerry. You’d probably even vote for Sharpton over Bush!!
Albeit with a perfectly rational(ization) explanation…
5. Repeat steps 1-4.

It is said that no man ever stands so tall as when he stoops
To help a child. I say that no man ever stoops so low as
When he wets the bed and hides the sheets (figuratively)

Roger that, and I believe it all too! I'll be going to get
my wife's "I'm with Stupid" tee shirt now. Talk to you
later :o)
