Checked 1 month's worth of postings and couldn't find direct answer explaining the differences in the Bucanero cigar offerings. Windjammer = Natural Wrapper (think I'll pass on that one) then there is the Maduro and the El Capitan line - mostly made in Nic - but some Dom Rep as well...things like Peg Legs, Full Sail, Reserve Maduro, etc.

What are the differences between the Maduro line and the El Capitan line - I'm looking to put a few samplers together but only of cigars with some taste and body.

Thanks Low -

You can always count on a Jersey guy to get right down to the point and come up with the answer. Have you come upon any new Portuguese places worth a try in Ironbound?

LOL... Where you from doc??

Don't go to Ironbound section much... Last time, I went to Bierra del Mar (I think that's the name). Always got Iberia as a backup... won't be disappointed.

Low

PS... How do you know I'm from Jersey?? Do I type wit a Joursey accent ??

I'm born and raised in Belleville (outside Newark). Sorry, I forgot that you said you were from Jersey. Maybe we can get a herf going for some Jersey guys. I work in Madison. I think Qball works in Newark and lives in Parsippany.
The Soprano's do a lot of filming in the area. Even in my town. Also a lot in Montclair... Gotta stop bt the Bing..

Low

BTW, who ain't got Bruce in vinyl???

You must know Tramontin Harley-Davidson up here in Warren County - that's my village..... I think Low had a GREAT idea - a Jersey Herf !!!!!

Gonna make some inquiries for some places willing to get smoked out !!!!!

Slim - check the opening statement - I did try the last month's worth of related postings - couldn't find exactly the discussion on filler, binder, wrapper, aging before release etc. that I was looking for - Once I know what goes into a cigar and where it was made - I have a very good idea as to how it will taste and whether the purchase will be to my liking.

docrks,

Very very familiar with Tramontin. 10 minutes from my house. Low, 80 west to exit 12 bear right, you can't miss it. I love the idea of a Jersey herf. Let me know if you need any help setting this up docrks.

docrks ..
you might want to check "all posts" if "last month" didn't produce results ... until late last summer, there wasn't much mention of Bucs, but there was an absolute frenzie of posts on them late in '02 and in early '03 ... I remember Slim's post being among those, but there were a LOT of others as well ...

docrks --- yeah, what SteveS said ... and I guess I should have been a little more clear.

I did an "All Messages' search ... and couldn't believe that there are 220 threads with the word 'Bucanero' in it.

YIKES!!!

So I had to narrow down the search ...

Well ... after about a half an hour, I finally found my post:

The 'Peg Legs' are classified as a medium to full-bodied cigar, and are more closely in blend to the 'el Capitan Reserva Maduro' ...

The el Capitan Reserva Maduro ... mild-medium bodied ... is a blend of fine Dominican and Spicy Nicaraguan 'Ligero' filler, Nicaraguan binder and a Costa Rica Maduro wrapper. They are aged 3 years.

The el Capitan Reserva Natural ... medium-bodied ... Sumatra Wrapper, Dominican and Nicaraguan filler, Dominican binder.

The Peg Leg ... has the Costa Rica Maduro wrapper, with the Dominican and Nicaragua (not sure if it's ligero) filler ... but, it has a Dominican binder (instead of Nicaraguan). They are aged 3 years ...

The 'Full Sail' is definately full-bodied
smoke, made with a Costa Rican Maduro wrapper, and fine Dominican filler and binder ... and has been aged for three years. Much stronger IMHO ...

Windjammer (gold ring) ... Mild-Bodied ... Equadorian Sumatra Wrapper, Dominican and Nicaraguan Fillers, Ecuadorian binder.

Maduro (Red ring) ... Medium-bodied ... Connecticut Broad Leaf Wrapper, dominican and Nicaraguan fillers, Ecudorian binder.

... both of these are aged 5 years!

Texas Star ... medium-bodied ... Costa Rica maduro wrapper, Dominican and Nicaraguan fillere, Dominican binder.

I hope this helped ...
