Hey all, well I figured it was time to introduce myself since I've been lurking here since January. I started collecting and smoking cigars right after Christmas when my parents bought me my first few samplers. They had previously given me a couple of Davidoffs last summer, but it didn't "take" as a hobby until this year. Since early January I've accumlated more than 1300 cigars and I'm beginning to think I have a serious spending problem.:)

Luckily I've tried to read the board and learned early about Bad Frogs and Lone Wolfs. I just wish I'd figured out that the Fidalgo Negro was so rauncy before I bought the 5 pack.:) Seriously though, I've purchased some real stinkers. As soon as I get a chance to sample them all and separate the wheat from the chaff, I'll be offering up the dogs.:)

Anyway, this is a great board and I look forward to interacting with all of you!

Haha! Funny thing, I always look forward to Rick's posts. Whenever I'm feelin' down about one of my purchases, I at least have the consolation that one other person is smoking the same things.:) Takoma anyone?:)

The Fidalgo wasn't bad tasting really, it just didn't do anything for me. I'll try another one before I go to bed and see if my attitude has changed over the past two months...or maybe its attitude has changed.:)

If you've collected 1300 cigars since Christmas you either have money to burn or you're a seriously disturbed individual or both. Either way CBid is the right place for you.

Robby, if I had a wife I'm sure she'd be wearing mine as well! Fortunately or unfortunately, depending on how you look at it, I've managed to stay single 'til 34. I have no doubt that when I do get married, my buying prowess will die completely. So I'm gettin' ahold of all of the goodies I can now! The two things I'll never give up are my motorcycle and my smokes!

Oh, I tried the Fidalgo again last night. Just as I remembered, no taste at all. Well, if you hotbox it you get a bit of flavor. I think my neighbor who was still awake said it best..."tastes hollow". There is really nothing offensive here, it's just blah.

Welcome Erik. It's one heck of a contagious disease, but at least you've found a support group (a bunch of enablers!).

Boycott Buc huh? Hmmm, I was really wanting to try one of them!:) Since I drive an SUV, and thus according to Arianna Huffington support terrorism, I suppose it wouldn't hurt me to try just one!:)

yeah Eric..being somewhat of a newbie myself expically to cbid( but not anymore )LOL, I pruchased 800 bucks worh of Cigars. There was no way I could win all those bids, my prices were to low. I had to go out and by 3 more Humidours to pamper all my Ill gotten gains. I have over 500 now. I have had to turn in to a cigar smoking machine. My buddies are forever thanking me LOL. Welcome to the Club. I does consist of many ( of whih I am apart of, and happy to be ) friendly, courteous, thrifty, kind , helpful, obdient, (obedient?) sorry I am talking about the Boy Scouts. But we fit in there somewhere :-)

Erik welocome aboard! 1300 since Xmas..DAMMMMMM!
About the married part. I'm 49 got remarried almost two years ago. My cigar smoking life has never been better! I've accumulated almost 1000 cigars and 13 humidors to match. I've bought three o f the humidors..my wife the rest. It's been her who has accumulated qbout half of the cigars as well. She has developed the uncanny ability to find really good cigars cheap. Then again i've come home to the UPS package with Davidoff Double R's as well..AND SHE ORDERED THEM FOR ME! Life is good!

Ok,I'll stop you. No,we all go through a variation of what you've done.Try buying the classics, shop for quality and value, don't go for quantity.Try trading up,and remember what Ocat said somewhere else,"Why would anyone smoke anything that isn't yummmmmy" ?

Thanks Ken, that's good advice. I've tried to buy decent smokes, but those $10 boxes were so tempting early on! I tell myself that you have to smoke the garbage to really appreciate the good stuff. At least that gives me some solace when I look at the Caleyes Torpedos taking up space. Every one has been plugged.

I feel so much better now that you are here. Having only bought about 600 sticks in 4 months, that makes me conservative. I have put a halt on the purchasing until I get through trying out all the wonderful cigars I have traded up for here. Only buying I'm doing now is at the local shop to try the "good stuff".. one stick at a time. Then I'll hit CBid and try to compete against all these other guys for the premium smokes.
