Hey Folks,
The Birthday club, has gotten off to a good start. From the beginning, I wanted to limit the membership, to 20 people. We were at 16, as of this post, we lost emgjet. Thanks Ed, your thankyou package will be sent out, next week. I may be MIA this week, as I let some work pile up. We have 4 more places to fill. If they are not filled by May 1st, we will run without them.
By the way, special thanks to Sonny_LSU, and emgjet, who remembered my birthday, but didn't want to be in the club. Guys your thankyou packages will be sent next week, when I send out the smokes for the first issues birthdays. Thanks again, to everyone who helped make this birthday, one of the best I ever had.
You Guys, and Gal, ROCK

This is gonna get outta hand... remember 2 - 3 premiums... It's nice, but you don't want some people to feel bad if they sent 2 to someone and then that person posts about receiving 5 from another person.

Make sense??

What do you think??

I agree that the birthday portion should be 2 sticks. If not for any other reason than NOT make the person buy a new humidor to put 60-70 sticks recieved at one time. 38 sticks at one time might be alot for some peoples storage. Besides, some of the birthday club are newbies that may not stock enough to try and match the pro's. If you want to bomb the guy/gal seperate of the birthday run, then do so. It will keep this more fun and less competative.

BTW homebrew.. Depended on a significant other to send out your birthday bomb and it didn't happen. So expect a belated wish from me. :-)

Totally agree and urge restraint on sending more than 2 sticks. And remember too, that you will be getting a list of that person's most favorite sticks. Getting almost 40 sticks is a lot to deal with, just a caution as I fully know there are extremely generous people on these boards wanting to "add just a few for good measure"...don't do it! LOL

Hey Penguin13,
I have been very busy this weekend. Yes I recieved your smokes, awesome. You are the man. I thought I sent you an email of thanks, but I must have missed it. Yes my humidor is too full, send only 2. People have been bombing me with no mercy. I am running into storage problem. But I guess that is a good problem. Thankfully, there are several more birthdays going on, so I will not have to kick my existing premiums out of the Humi. to fit the birthday cigars.
Thanks everyone. I will email the new folks tonight. I have three PC's that need to be fixed, so I am quite busy today.

probably not too good to let a single bday club get too large. Best to have multiple clubs. Otherwise, everyone in the club will be sending out 5 packages a month!

Homebrew. Would love to be part of this but the thought of getting 40, maybe more, sticks at once with my limited storage scares me off. The suggestion of more than one club appeals to me if you ever do that I'm in. (say 10-12 people). Thanks.

The homemade sweaterdor would be perfect for this type of 'problem'...

For just a few bucks, heck, you may already have a plastic bow with a lid lurking around the house, you could have an excellent extra humidor...just toss in some type of humidification device such as the wet green floral foam (brand name Oasis)...

I've got mine! Cheap, cheap, cheap said the chick! Problem solved!

I thought since Homebrew went to the trouble of organizing the birthday club, he deserved something extra. Besides, there's really no such thing as too many good cigars. Too many bad cigars, sure, but not too many good ones?? Like E-Chick said, storage can be cheap, you don't need to run out and buy a top of the line humidor if someone sends you a few extra sticks. Or if all else fails, smoke 'em faster ;) But in any case, I'll try to keep better control of myself in the future.

I'd like to point something out:

A nice gesture has lead to "only give 2 sticks!" and a birthday present of potentially 60-70 premium sticks.......try spreading just a little sunshine throughout your day at home/work and you may see something special happen.

Just to clarify,
Sonny_LSU, and people just like him, is one of the main reasons the birthday club got started. I posted for a trade, looking for a special cigar to celebrate my birthday. Sonny Bombed me, an Opusx with a couple of friends. It snowballed from there. So really Sonny is the reason this club exists.

Well folks we have hit 20 members. Please in the info you send, make sure your birthday is in there somewhere. I forgot to say that in the emails I sent, even though it is a birthday club, that is the most missed info.
Thanks

Homie,

Are you gonna send a complete list of all the people involved (with all info)in a spreadsheet or something?? Easier to send that than a complete newsletter each month with birthdays in it. Maybe the newsletter could just be a reminder.

Hey Guys, and Gal,
Lowman, sounds like a good Idea, and I will have it out, probably Tues. or Wed. next week. I just want to make sure I have all of the info, before I send it out.

Hey Ed, thats eh3856,
I recieved your package, just now. Damn my letter carrier is cute, another advantage to recieveing all these packages is that I am getting to know her, thanks guys. I really appreciate the Birthday sticks Ed. I have never had a CAO Brazilia. I am looking forward to trying it. You guys do know that by letting me get a try of all these premiums, that I always wanted to try but hadn't yet, you are going to have me bidding against you in the future.
Thanks Ed

P.S. My first successful week of not bidding or winning anything on cbid. I have several bids already in for next week though. It's an illness.

Who wants to organize the second club? I would offer but I would seriously foul things up. Anyone else want to do this?

Hey mkraus,
Thats a great idea. I am worried that any more than 20 people in the club may overstress the members. Just in the first newsletter there were 5 Birthdays. I'm cool with that, partially because I am one of the 5, though my birthday was last Sunday. I am sending out some premiums that I already had. Needed to make room for the ones I am getting. One of the coolest part of the club, is the fact that I am trying cigars that I have never tried, for example A.F. Don Carlos. I Love the Hemmingway, but had never tried the Don.
The price for a 5 pack of these mostly run out of my price range, so I probably wouldn't pay that to find out I don't care for a cigar. I will now, hmmmm this is good for c-bid. Anyway, I am really enjoying myself, even though it is alot of work. I think that whoever does the next one, or several, should look at several factors. I won't go into them at this time because I am still working the bugs out myself. If anyone is thinking about doing another Birthday Club, email me and I will see if there is any advice I can lend. I am hoping that I can pull this off, as I have never been as organised as this club is making me be.
I Love this place

mkraus,

Why don't you start another thread asking for new birthday club members. Call the first club the Original Cigarbid Birthday Club and the other one the Second Cigarbid Birthday Club. You need to differentiate between the two so people don't get confused.
