I realy need some help. My step daughter is getting married 6/15 and I need to choose an approprite song for the father/daughter dance. This may sound foolish to some people but this is my step daughter I have been with for 14 years she is now 24. Her dad passed away 5 years ago so I was very honored when she asked me to walk her down the aisle. She is truly the daughter i was never able to have of my own.I love her as though she was my own flesh and blood.I feel that the song should be something appropriate. Being respectfull to her father and her fathers family that will be there but also something that shows how much I really care about her.Any help would be greatly appreciated.Thank You...

Mine was Edwin McCain, I could not ask for more. It was a toss up between that and Lonestar, baby I'm amazed by you. I'm sure there are dozens of other great pics.

Being a in a family of parrotheads, I have to say I was brought to tears at my sister's reception when she and our dad danced to Jimmy Buffett's Little Miss Magic.
My .02
M

She's constantly amazed by the blades of
the fan on the ceiling
And the funny little faces she makes
can't help but be appealing
She loves to ride through the town with the top down
Feel the warm breeze on her gentle skin
She is my next of kin

Chorus
I see a little more of me everyday
I catch a little more moustache turning grey
Your mother is the only other woman for me
Little Miss Magic what you gonna be?

Sometimes I catch her dreaming and wonder
where that little mind meanders
Is she down along the shore or
strolling cross the broad Savannah's
I know in time she'll learn to make up her own mind
In time she's gonna learn to fly
Oh that I won't deny

... I've also got a copy of "The Wedding Song" ... I could let you 'listen' to a copy in MP3 format ... but you have to promise to delete it within 24 hours if you don't like it ... hehe...

'Lady is a Tramp' is both sweet and will make people smirk at the lyrics. Fun yet sentimental.

The Wedding Song is beautiful, and I have an MP3 of it myself, "He is now to be among you at the calling of your heart"? Is that it? But it's a little over done. At least it used to be. Maybe now, with todays younger crowd, it could be revisited. It just seemed like everyone was playing it for a while.

Butterfly Kisses by Bob Carlisle.

I'm not sure if that is the one the Jimmy meant.

Butterfly is a song by Crazy Town and would not be appropriate for a wedding.

What a Wonderful World is a great pick.
Butterfly Kisses, nice song, but a real tear jerker.

Be sure to post pics after the wedding and of course from the bachelor party:-)

I suppose Nazareth's "Hair of the Dog" is out too.

I don't have a suitable song for you, but for the ears of everyone there...No Bryan Adams! LOL!

First of all, congratulations! Being the Father (or step in this case)-of-the-bride must be such an honor, I couldn't even fathom it. I can sense the pride on your post.

I eloped and never had the pleasure of a father/daughter dance : ( and would give anything to be able to go back and redo things.

I think that the list that Rich posted above is a fabulous one, and any one of those would be nice. Just keep in mind the tempo and the tear-jerking factor...go with your heart!

I will let you know what I decide. Pictures will definatly be posted. Maybe not to many from the stag though. I might get slapped...LOL to all
