I'm a Chevrolet fan.

Chevy
has
every
vehicle
running
on
low
elapsed
time

Had a Ford or 2 and didn't like them...

1. F'ed on raw deal.
2. Fifth on race day.
3. Found on road dead.
4. Fix or repair daily.
5. or backwards, driver returns on foot.

Good luck with your sale. Buy a truck, you can't go wrong with a pickup.

thanks ...

I was able to learn that the asking price on the vehicle in question is approximately the same as high blue ... which is to say, average retail in this area for a car of that type, and was able to learn the average wholesale price (low book, the amount the dealers in this area are paying or allowing for vehicles of the same type.

I was also able to learn that the vehicle has not been in any accidents and that there is no indication the oddometer has been tampered with, that there have been no recalls on this model and was able to confirm that it is a one-owner vehicle ...

With that info in hand, we will make a deal on the vehicle tomorrow evening ...

Thanks to CW for his good wishes .... he has the advantage over most others inthat he knows the special and unique circumstances that MrsS is facing (which are considerable and which she meets with the most upbeat and positive attitude imaginable) ...

Without getting into too much detail, the thing about this car that makes it such a good candidate for her use is that almost every control is left-hand operated ... her circumstances have cost her the use of her right hand, so it was important to find a car with the features this one has ... special adaptations will be necessary to allow her to start the car and to operate the climate controls with her left hand, but that's about all ... so that's a good thing ... insurance coverage will pay up to a certain figure for purchase and adaptation, and with as little adaptation as this one will need, the insurance money will go further in helping to pay the purchase cost. Now, it's on me to negotiate as low a fair price as possible to minimize our expense as much as we can ...

Maybe if I do well enough, she'll be agreeable to kicking a little extra into the cigar budget ... LOL ... we'll see how that goes ...

Thanks again, guys

OK ... since I seem to be sharing (almost) all the details of my life with this big (sometimes not-so) happy family ...

We ended up not getting the Ford ...

It's a long sad story and for about 24 hours, we were pretty bummed out since as I mentioned, we'd gone to some lengths to find a car whose controls layout is configured the way that one was ...

BUT ... the good news is, we were able to find a car whose controls are equally well configured that we like better and even though it was $1.98 or so more, we felt it was a lot more car ... way fewer miles on it, for example ...

We're the proud new owners (well, technically, SHE is both the proud one AND the new owner ...I'm just an involved bystander) of a 2002 Dodge Intrepid ... gorgeous bluish-grey in color ...

So much for the Fix-Or-Repair-Daily jokes ...

Nicer car Steve. Sorry I didn't see your post earlier. I would have figured 10K is right for a basic 1-2 year old Taurus (because we have one). Good car...my sister has the intrepid...fast bugger and no mechanical complaints. My sister is hard as heck on cars.

Glad to see your search is resolved. Now...what are you going to do about "your" car??

LOL

Steve

A word of advise. KEEP THAT TRANSMISSION SERVICED ON TIME!!!!!!!!!!!

The car I'm sure is nice. But, those transmissions have had a bad history. Next time I see you we can talk about it more. There are ways to help it out.

Wow!

Sorry Steve I missed your last post. The Intrepid isnt nearly as bad as the Taurus. We dont work on as many of those. And when we do, they usually have a lot of miles on them. Good choice!

That's true Steve. You can smoke in the lil white one. My old Bronco can be smoked in without too much complaint.
