A question for RICKAMAVEN or anyone else

I was a political science major in college (that's not to say that I know more about politics than anyone else, but it did afford me to hang out with people who were very into political issues) and I am just amazed at the type of behavior that Rick displays. Not to say I haven't seen it before. I have read many of his posts and I really don't know what to make of them, I don't think that he is kidding about Bush, etc. I am not a big Bush fan, but I have voted for Republicans. I voted for Bill Bradley in the primary because I thought he was the best man, bar none for the job in either party (he talked about race relations and other issues that concerned me), and actually voted for Nader in the general election for I thought he was the best person overall (campaign finance and corprate accoutability). I actually voted straight Republican in 2002. I just find it very hard to believe that a person can be in love with a party or for that matter a single man like Clinton. To be in love with a man such as Clinton, regardless of his personal life, and really know what decisions he was involved in or what he was actually responsible for, is beyond me.

Was this question poorly written or too hard to understand? I've been on the boards over a year and I should probably just altogether skip most postings on the Misc. board but I was trying to read into the mind of a person who behaves this way.

huttman78, if a tree falls on a liberal in the forest and he says the forest shoudn't be logged as a result, do you stop cutting trees? Don't worry about the libs. If it was up to them, we'd all be comunist... Thanks for your post.

I do not speak for Rick nor do I believe that he has ever professed his love for Bill Clinton, only his dislike for President Bush. In fact, he has stated many times that he supported Ralph Nader. Say what you will about Rick's political philosophy or lack thereof, but I respect the fact that he rarely wavers in his beliefs and opinions and has always seemed to return that respect to all of us here in this forum!

Hutman,
I really don't know what your post is about, but I suggest if you think Rick is wrong or crazy, you should respond to his post and point out why you feel he is wrong, instead of a post like this. If you can do your research and make logical arguments against Rick, it would be more wise. I see a lot of people on the board that make very logical arguments with Rick, and they all have a mutual understanding and comraderie about it. Well, take what I said anyway you want, but its just my humble opinion.

Hutt,
Political Science could possibly teach folks how to dodge answering questions, but not how to dodge asking them.
Where is your question?
Or, more properly, WHAT is your question?

"type of behavior"

behavior is what i do, not what i post.

my behavior is to stir the pot, raise the hackles, creat discussion. i do that by posting edgy material.

how much response do you think i would get if i said, "i like bush. he is doing a wonderful job."

i can't follow the rest of your post about loving one party or one man. something about "such a person. since you started refering to me, should i read into your post that i am "such a person?"

Huttman, I thought your post was clearly written. X was kidding, in a liberal Democrat sort of way. I was just fooling around. Rick voted for Nader, too. I didn't make it to the polls last time, but would have voted a straight Libertarian ticket in protest. Nader is as weird in his way as Perot was in his, a driven man who works for the good of everybody, he may think, and seems to love no one. Rick likes hummers. I still want to know how large the margin of President Gore's landslide victory was, and what is his mandate. Was this coherent?

Rick is rock solid in his opinions and while I do not agree with most of them, I respect them and try and stir it back his way. I do feel Rick should stick to his hummingbirds as I am jealous of the great numbers he gets in his yard as opposed to mine. Maybe the California Annas Humingbirds are DEmocrats!

Rick stirs the pot, sniffs old shoes, has his political agenda a bit skewed, likes birds but all that aside he smokes cigars so I like him in spite of his handycaps.

Rick, do I get my free cigars now? :-)

I have to say that I too disagree with Rick most of the time, but I don't usually verbalize these differences because it doesn't really matter in the big scheme of things. Things that Rick and I do share is a love of Vegas, music and cigars. Everything else is just fluff. I'm not going to change his views and he isn't going to change mine, so why argue about them?
In a morbid way, it's kind of fun to read what Rick has to say and how well he is able to defend his ideas and beliefs. And I will agree that Rick never sways in his political agenda, but he is always willing to read opposing views, listen to the other side and he is very patient when it comes to people who disagree with him.
Thanks Rick.

Now I will once again go back to being quiet and avoid political banter.

I don't know why I was fascinated by his amount of postings.... It does appear that Rick is unwavering in his beliefs and his response was enlightening. I have read Rick's cigar and non-cigar posts and respect his opinion on most matters, but I found it just kind of odd to see anti-Bush postings several times a week or at least several times a week as of late. I have to admit that some are even funny, but to spend that much time on it made me curious. I was also sorry to post my question directly at Rick, but he is very prominent on the board and most of the other posters don't attract my attention or are kind of fly by night.

as far as politics, i am a devoted bush hater, you probably got that already.

i'm pretty much retired and don't watch tv much so i read and type and shop, take care of the things that come my way that grab my fancy.

as far as "attract my attention", i'm certain you are a very nice chap, but toby and i have been married 38 years, so i'm taken.
