Gordon Jenkins: "Manhatten Towers" ... mid-late 60s ... can't remember many details ... a more beat than hippie sound ...

"Steambath" with Jose Perez, Bill Bixby and Valarie Perrine ... early 70s, it was a play that was made into a movie for PBS ... Bixby finds himself in a steambath that he learns is really a waiting room for the afterlife. Besides Valerie Perrine and Jose Perez, I remember Kenneth Mars being in it ... an interesting film, IMO

Valerie was in "What Women Want" with Mel Gibson, playing one of his ditzy assistants! Yes, I remember her and I remember Mamie Van Doren, Marilyn Monroe, Jayne Mansfield, etc.
Edsel automobiles, DeSotos, and Straight 8 engines, along with when the major leagues had 16 teams and the Yankees dominated the World Series. Mantle and Maris in 1961, Bill Skowron at first, Bobby Richardson at 2nd, with Whitey Ford pitching and the three catchers (Berra, Howard, Blanchard)also remember Stan Musial, Ken Boyer, Red Schoendist.
Music, Bill Haley and the Coments, the Platters, Fats Domino, Drifters, LaVern Baker, Big Joe Turner, Muddy Waters, Huey Piano Smith and the Clowns, etc
Remember when the new cars were introduced behind the sealed up show rooms and all could not wait to see them.
Gasloine at 40 cents a gallon, Baby Ruth bars 5cents and the Saturday Serial Movie Features. Hopalong Cassidy, Wild Bill Eliot, Gene Autry, Roy Rogers, etc

Great times

Jazz music, with the Big Bands and a great album called Road Show with Stan Kenton. Chet Baker, Dave Brubaker, Jimmy Smith, Mose Allison, and of course the greatest singer of all......Frank Sinatra!

Remember when Kenton's wife posed for Playboy? They didn't let me vote on that decision, I would have opposed it. Disrespectful to the old man. On the "Live from Redlands" album, the drummer is John Von Ohlen, who heads up the Blue Wisp big band in Cincinnati.

Valerie Perrine had the most edible looking skin, rather like Bernadette Peters'.

Charlie ... any 40ct gas ever put into either a DeSoto or an Edsel went into a used car ... those names were blasts from the past by the time gas rose to the mid-30s ... and, your mention of the Yankees of that era makes me think you probably also remember Ken Boyer's brother Clete who played 3rd base for the Bronx Bombers ... hey, have you ever read Jim Bouton's book "Ball Four" ?? ... if you haven't, you really should .... that'll trigger a huge flood of memories for you and give you a whole new perspective on the Yankee teams of the early 60s ... your memory good for the name of the Yankee 2nd baseman BEFORE Bobby Richardson and what happened to make the Yankees think it would be a good time to give Bobby the job ?? ... LOL
