absolutely. spyware should be cleaned out weekly at a minimum. i use lavasoft-adaware, but i'm sure there are more free downloads. of course they probably put their own spyware on your computer and the clean out probably overlooks it. one is better then lots. also no-trace cleans out all the cookies and temp files.

Rick, I use that same program. I run it every week or bi-weekly, it is does an excellent job at cleaning your system. Also, it fortunately does not have spyware of its own :)

I run Lavasoft 6.0 as well ... additionally, I run BPS also - each will miss a few registry keys every now & then but usually what one misses - the other will catch.

I run Spybot from time to time and it seems to work pretty well at cleaning up the unwanted trackers and stuff. It is the only one I have used so can't say how it compares to what has been mentioned here above.

i run spybot and adaware both, and believe it or not, 1 picks up what the other misses.

Pervert Cliff present...

Now about that Spyware. AdAware and Spybot catch everything that is worth getting. Couple that with Spyware blaster and the immunization and the mega host file in spybot S&D and you pretty much keep spyware from ever getting on you puter in the first place.

An independant company did a test on ALL spyware removal packages. NOT 1 OF THEM HAD A BETTER THEN .400 AVERAGE!!! Sorry, don't have the link handy, but I got it in my sysadmin security mailing list.

They recommend the best strategy is using at least 2 programs. Personally, at work I run a combination of both Spybot S&D and Adware SE daily on all of my users machines.

I run adaware and spydoctor - they catch what Mcafee misses.

What blackfoot and cexshun said.

I would add to run them twice.

You'd be surprised what they can find on the 2nd go'round.

Ditto that on running them twice and also, don't forget to get updates on them regularly ... each time I've updated my AdAware program, it catches a boatload of new stuff ...

Somebody call my name?

I use Mcafee and I also have a hardware firewall router. Together they catch about 95% of all the crap.

Marla

You hurt my feelings by saying "all of you perverts, and you know who you are"!!!! I really do not consider myself as a member of the pervert club, but if I am so classified by you................bawl, and cry!
