Gotta go with Rick on that one. One of the reasons Bush is viable is the people he surrounds himself with.

Yes, he should, but maybe Cheney will decide to "retire" from public life...........Colin Powell would be my choice to place in the VP role.

Either Way... Cheney Stay for another 4 or Powel pick it up and then after another 4 run for Pres himself...

I'm not to sure Powel even wants to go that high up??

I like him Powell too. Would probably vote for him if he ran.
I don't know if he is being "pliable" or not. I think everyone in any adminastration has to tow the party line or get shown the door eventually. Better for his career to not be too outspoken on his personal views.

As for Chaney. There are still some health issues. I would think it better for Bush to find another VP.

This board is mostly conservative, and therefore tend to vote Republican.
I asked the question because I think it is a mistake to keep him on the ticket. Sure, it could help the short term (2004 election) because there will be no new dirt associated with a new running mate.
But let's face it: If Bush/Cheney win in 2004, who do the GOP have in 2008? Will they become like the democratic party of today with no spokesperson, or worse, no direction?
If Dubya could have learned anything from daddy, he should have learned to NOT stick with the same VP, although for very different reasons.

I would like nothing better than to get Jeb the heck out of Florida but, having DC drop dead seems a bit extreme.

Has anyone seen the SNL skit where Cheney is having heart attacks and he keeps talking when his heart is dead, then the doctor comes in and revives him.
TOO FUNNY!!

You guys have a morbid side, don't you? Actually, when you see Cheney speak, watch him, and listen to him, he seems more like the president to me than the VP. I like and respect him very much. And also believe the GOB will have a stable of contenders in 08. I'm not a big Powell supporter, but I would vote for him over a dem. It will be interesting to see all of the black "leaders" coming out and disparaging him as an Uncle Tom if he gets the GOP nomination. Talk about your hypocrites..

enlightenment has struck you. you are beginning to realize who is in charge. i wish no one ill, but he is worse then any mafioso ever was. they killed for territory also but only a few at a time. we lost 150 or more young americans and are losing one or so a day. and halliburton is getting no bid government contracts.

i too thought there was more to powell then there is. what's the point to having him a cabinet member and closing the doors of the cabinet. token?

I'm not sure I'm ready for the Green party monthly :-) I believe Halliburton is one of the few international companies that could accommodate the task at hand. Additionally, they couldn't necessarily wait until after we went to war and then suffer a lengthy biding process which the dems would surly politicize and draw out. Also, I don't understand about the closed cabinet statement. I think Bush has as many if not MORE minorities on his staff than our former self avowed first African American president.

i meant he was lied to and ignored. nothing to do with minorities.

are you in favor of cheney's company getting a free ride. what makes you think no one else could handel it. what about the cell phone company tht gets the plunder of setting up iraq's cell phone system and has literaly no background to show it is capable.

And what about the company that makes those black stealth helicopters that fly over Rick's house at night?
