Well I'm anticipating Sunday's herf. It's fathers day, right? My first. Here's what I have in mind.

1. For starters a small PAN or PAM, principal?
2. Follow-up with a La Aroma De Cuba dbl corona. This is the box I bought myself for Fathers day.
3. Then perhaps an expensive Fuente, either an UTS or an Opus Dbl corona.
4. Finally, I'm going to try one of those Sun Grown Hemmingways I got when they came out. I have 4, and it will be a perfect occasion to burn the first.

Anyone else have any big plans? I notice a remarkable absence of any ISOMs from my lineup. I'm not sure how that happened!

Doing father stuff mostly. Taking the kids to the amusemant park, etc. Since we (wife and I) will be at the PA herf the following weekend, that's only fair.

My 6 yr old daughter wanted to buy me a "box of cigars" of which she meant a humidor full. Her mother talked it down to a few Diamond Crowns and PAMs instead. Not complaining at all.

Well, I'm not a father, but I'll probably take my dad golfing. Then probably grab something to eat, then off with some friends to culminate a long weekend of good times. And since I'm assuming the majority of you have never heard of Seville, OH, I'll let you in on the excitement of this coming weekend. It is the annual town yard sale, billed as the "World's Largest Yard Sale". It happens every year on Fraiday & Saturday of Father's Day weekend. Growing up in the town it has just become a large joke to most of us here, and we take it upon ourselves to mention it nearly everytime we tell someone where we're from, and then get all our friends from different areas that we've met at college and such to come and view the site. Anyway it always makes for a good time of laughter, and at least one decent get together/party. This year should be even better since its the first year that nearly everyone we know has reached 21.

Sorry, to go into that ramble, but hell its the World's Largest Yard Sale. Anyway, happy father's day to all you fathers out there.

Robby,

You are too well organized. I'm golfing with my old man and brother-in-law. I'll be smoking plenty of sticks, but I haven't even thought about which ones.

Now you've got me thinking about it.

Going to RELAX!
I am hoping my wife surprises me with a couple of nice sticks. If not that is OK (Grrrrr).
I do plan on smoking two specific ones that evening, which have been resting for a while. One is a Camacho Diadema and the second is a Dunhill Esplendido (8” and 8 ½”). I believe the visual effect on the wife should lead to other things – LOL.

Hey all, listen to this....
My b-day is friday and fathers day is sunday,so i plan on smoking alot this weekend. The other night i noticed my cigar "diary" was out of it's usual position and turned to the "must try list".Now i know for sure i didnt have it out,but didnt think much of it.The next day my wife walked away from the puter and i noticed, while walking by,that she had the search page up with "Indianapolis cigar shops" in the search box.So i am waiting to see what she comes up with. All this from a woman who knows nothing about cigars!!
God this is gonna be a great weekend!!

Well my father's day is looking like a nice breakfast out, followed by a road trip to this country store/amusement park to let the kids get some yaya's out and score some local stawberries. After that, a rest, a swim, and then its my time. Watch the Arena Bowl (taped). My kids for once are telling me it's ok to do a cigar or two on Father's day, so I'm probably going to enjoy a couple, one after dinner and one nightcap. Probably a Torano Exodus gold after dinner and an Opus xxx Power Ranger before bed.

My plans just changed... I'm taking a trip to LA (Lower Alabama) to see the folks. My Dad is pushing 80 and he's not well. I try to get down every 6 to 8 weeks. Spoke to my mom today, she said he's starting to get worse. And when she says that, it means he is. He's starting to loose it in terms of his memory and some dementia. I'd like to take his new grandson down and let him see him again. He's seen him two times now and he just turned 3 months. I'd like him to see him and enjoy him while he still knows who he is. And there's no smoking in the truck with the baby, so it will be a Sunday night herf on the back porch. The SG Hemi is definitely still in the line-up!

I think we are going to KC for the weekend with my two daughters and my 4 month grandson. Maybe catch a ballgame with the Royals. Who knows, maybe they will win (probably not since the Giants are in town). No other plans other than to relax and smoke some cigars that I haven't picked out yet. Looks like I got some work to do this week before we go.

Robby, best wishes to your Dad.

I feel for you Robby, It's no fun when our parents show their age. My father had to quit cigars, then even his occasional 'tipple' because of his meds. Now he's dealing with prostate cancer. On the plus side, we get to hang out a few days a week. As to the gars, I just had my first La Aroma dc, and it was very nice (have to get some more). Hopefully I don't sound completely un'hep', but I thought all Hemmingways were sungrown. I've heard folks talking about these lately like they were new. I've had a couple signatures sitting (not tried yet) with black at the bottom of the band. I was under the impression that that's how fuente designates an sg.

Thanks Red, he's had a good life though, we should all make it to 80! I'm a little over half way there and hope I can make it that far...

Let's see. I'm going to beg my wife, after brunch, that I can go out on the patio and have a lil mini herf. I will start off with one of my year old wheels. I have an R.J. ISOM begging for a moment.

Then I'll shower, brush my teeth and rejoin the family. Get my lecture on how smoking is bad. And maybe BBQ some ribs.

This fathers day, the first thing I will do is take MY dad out to Bunch!

BUT, then since this is the first Fathers Day for me (baby born 4/25/03!), I will treat myself to a Monte#2, that was sent to me by a most generous member of this board, with my afternoon coffee, and then a Romeo y Julieta Vintage #6 Torpedo after dinner in the back yard with a nice Sam Adams Summer Brew.

The only way to go!!!

Happy Fathers day to all you gentlemen. I have a whole new appreciation for my own parents, and for those who share my situation!

Best,

PT ;-)

I'm not a Dad (not that I know of anyway), but I'll be heading to Cancun on Sunday for 7 days in the sun!!! I'll be hunting down an ISOM not long after our plane lands.

puskarich,

Be advised, most of the ISOM smokes sold there are fakes. Good fakes at that! Especially near the resorts. Look for authorized dealers and you may have some luck. But, I would bring my own so to know what your smoking!

Just my humble opinion.

Yeah, most of the time I only go to one specific cigar shop when I'm there. They are pretty reputable and I trust their items. If I happen to buy one anywhere else, I pretty much know that I'm taking my chances.

Robby -

Best wishes for your Dad --- Congrats on your 1st Father's Day - I still remember my 1st one and now we'll be going down to Georgia/Alabama border (Ft. Benning) to pin on her AIRBORNE Paratrooper Wings -- enjoy every minute of your child being with you -- teach them to smoke the good stuff!!!!

I'm starting with a Punch Black Prince Gran Corona after breakfast, moving to a Diamond Crown #7 after lunch, RyJ Edicion Limitada Robusto at the 19th hole and a 1926 Series PAM Torpedo after dinner with the Port.

Happy Father's Day to All Dad's on this Board...

Jeeze guys, As one who hasn't really given a thought to what he's going to smoke this weekend, you really know how to elevate the anxiety level. After some reflection, since I know I'm going to be grilling steak, making home-made ice cream, and seeing my daughter home from college, I think I'll smoke one of my real cubans (I have precious few of these and severely ration them because I don't know right now when I'll be leaving the USA to obtain a new supply). You do have to be very careful where you buy cuban cigars because fakes are everywhere and superficial inspection can't distinguish them. Here's hoping everyone will have a nice, relaxing weekend.
