Wrapper split

Hello all. I have a question that hopefully I can get answered because it is driving me crazy. Lately some of my cigars, not all, have been getting a small wrapper split, about 1/2 inch long. This only happens after I light the cigar. It seems to happen to only the cigars that I keep in my biggest humidor but the RH reads usually between 66 and 70. Any suggestions would be greatly welcomed.

It sounds like your humidity is too high. You might want to try recalibrating your humidifier via the salt test. Do a search here on the bulletin board on "salt test" to get the proper instructions.

Good luck!

Thanks all, I will calibrate the hygrometer and see where I go from there. I thought that the credo was suppose to help to keep the humidity down? Also how do I get rid of the excess humidity with out harming my gars?

remington850 --- all the 'credo' does ... is give the cigars the humidity they need. If you use it with the 50/50 PG solution ... it chemically helps to maintain that humidity at around 70% ...

... just open up your humidor for a few hours. It won't hurt your cigars, and will bring down the humidity level.

Slimboli,

Thanks for the help. I try to use a 50/50 solution but maybe I mixed it wrong last time. I will air out my humidor and remix some more solution. Thanks to all for your help.

Did the salt test this weekend and found my hygrometer was way off. It was reading 59!!!! So I guess that when I was tring to keep it at 70 I was really hitting 81 or so. Thanks to all who responded it was a big help.
