I keep reading about all of the ISOM's many of the members of this board seem to possess. As a surfer of the net I know there are many places that they can be had (for a premium); mostly Canada and GB being the sources. I would really appreciate any info or help on where to buy from the vets of this board. also, who are trustworthy dealers to contact. Thanks guys. 1 other thing...
Where's E-chick? Hope everythings ok. I miss her.

TOTALLY agree with smokemed ---if you are buying Canadian or UK (ouch on the $$$$) - you would be well served doing some very easy research into the land down under or Ferdinand and Isabella's favorite spot --- or learn to yodell --- that's good too.

I find that ***YANKED*** has some pretty good deals. However, their selection isn't as good as ***YANKED***, but sometimes their prices are a bit higher. If all else fails, I've had good luck with ***YANKED***.

Take a cruise to the Bahamas! I got two boxes of Partagas Series D #4 and just walked right off the boat with 'em. So much for customs eh? The ship activities coordinator tried to scare everybody with storys of fines of 1000 dollars a cigar, but I say to hell with that!

The wife and I went on our honeymoon june 7, and went to freeport and nassau. I paid 80 dollars a box and they were sealed and from a pretty decent cigar shop. I first looked at The Atlantis Hotel, and they wanted to charge a crap load, but down town by senior frogs there's a nice cigar shop.

$80.00 a box? what brand were they? If you did not purchase them at the LCDH (la casa del habano stores) they are fakes.

We're not ribbing you, simply telling you, you can't buy PDS4's for less than the factory sells them. Think about it, the Cigar shop would have had to buy them for less than $80.00 plus shipping and all that. Read the latest on counterfiets in the new CA mag.

That is correct ... simple as that.

You cannot buy Cuban cigars for less that what they sell in Cuba ... unless they are fakes.

The demand is too high, and the supply is too low for anyone to get a 'below MSRP' deal on genuine Cuban cigars. Why would anyone sell them for rediculously low prices, when they can get top dollar for them ...

... think about it.

Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, have you reached a verdict?

We have your honor.

What say you?

Fakes, your honor.

Thank you, the jury is dismissed.

Newbie idiot question here. ISOM = what??

I gather it must be an acronym for a Cuban but what exactly does it mean?

Thanks.

It would be interesting to see a current list of what "real" cuban cigars are going for in Cuba. Anyone have a line on a web site that may have this? I know there was a site that had the prices as of a few years ago but have seen nothing since then.

Maybe one of you "world" travelers could bring back a list.

P.S. Slim, I don't think your inner tube will make it...LOL...69

Here is a list of prices in Cuba from March 2003
http://www.theorudman.com/cigar_shopping_in_cuba.htm.
If you are buying them for less, they are fakes.

I got stung in Tijuana with some counterfeit Hoyos. They looked great. The counterfeiters go to great pains to make them look authentic. It would have to be an organization with ample resources to produce such convincing fakes.

Doughnutboy, thanks for the web site. It is very interesting not to mention eye-opening as to what they cost in Cuba as compared to what you have to pay at sites around the world for "habanos"...69

If you can, try to get some from someone going on a cruise (assuming you're not), rather than the UK or
Spain. I say that because they are substantially less expensive in the islands. Something having to do with import taxes, and in the case of the UK, VAT (Value Added Tax) tax, which is running about 27% of purchase price right now. As far as bringing them back, if it's obvious that it's for personal use, probably they would just be confiscated. There is a way that you can bring them back without ANYONE being able to ascertain if they are true ISOMs, but I'll leave that for you to figure out. Enjoy.....

If you don't buy them at a La Casa del Habano, they most likely will be fakes.
